Default Matrix Headlights

Has anyone heard any further about unlocking the full capability of the Matrix beam headlamps for the US 992s? The US DOT was close to releasing an announcement with regards to such headlamps last October.

i haven’t. The fact they neutered the LEDs in the US on the 991s is one reason I never bothered to check that box.

There were rumors that USDOT would approve them in Fall 2021.

Further rumor that they may be software activated without a hardware change for those that have the "software-limited" matrix headlamps already installed.

The amount of people driving with full beams at night in the US, just blinding the **** out of oncoming traffic, make me think you'll regret the rule change

All the more reason for updating the rules....the Matrix beam technology was created to combat the very situation you're describing

I have a 2020 GLS580 with matrix headlights and there is an OBD enabled hack to activate them for the US. It's a simple flash that can be reversed. I would hope Porsche has something similar.

Agree. I had a BMW M4 with this feature that I had coded back in to enable it and it the tech worked so well it was hard to dazzle people if you wanted to!
