Child's play try 33% Luxury Car Tax on any car over $70,000 AUD as well as 10% sales tax, plus state taxes, Last GT3 paid approximately $80,000 AUD in taxes. All up a 991.2 GT3 down under cost about $260,000 USD

I was watching a couple episodes of Evo India to see what that's like. The prices they paid for their GT3/RS/2RS.....geez, IIRC it was like $400,000 CAD for a GT3.

a 2RS here cost about half a million USD starting price was $650,000 AUD. And a 3RS was about $350,000 USD. It’s a rough market down here in the southern part of the globe

What is the reasonable justification for a 25% tax?
Because they CAN! Easy tax grab on luxury cars as anyone who complains will never receive sympathy from the masses. In affect, a spite tax!
Porsche generally charges a bit less in Canada than in US on MSRP if you look at the CAD-USD exchange rate, so that helps a bit. Might just be different import charges direct into Can.

I grew up in Thailand - car prices for sports cars are double or triple what they are in the US. I saw a used 2016 GT4 for over 300k recently ( but that includes tax)
Yeah, well here in British Columbia any car over $150K is 25% tax!!
There are ways of dealing with the tax - look to your neighbor east. 25% on 100 to 200k is 25-50k in taxes, easily a down payment for a luxury car garage (the Vaults - similar to the ones being built near Kelowna or something cheaper). Title and register in AB, particularly if you have more than one fun car in your fleet, which would likely be in hibernation 6/12 months anyways
