Hi everyone...I come from the 997 forum...owned lots of 997's including a GTS. Wife and I just got a 2017 GTS - quick iPhone photos attached....yes parked in handicap..I have the placard and have a prosthetic left leg.

I am going to get back to the track again this year. I really miss the track and instructing but plan on keeping my track days to around 5 days or so a year...unlike the 20+ days a year I use to do for many years.

I've searched the forum here, maybe I am missing a post but can not find information on the following concerning 991.2 S or GTS cars.

1- the GTS we got has RWS (rear wheel steer) I thought I read months ago but can't find the post that only 20" wheels fit? Yes or No?

2- Anyone installed front adjustable lower control arms? These are a must for me to use r-compared tires.

3. Anyone have experience with 991.2 with RWS alignment? What's working with various alignments and what's not?

4- What track pads are being used? On my 997's I always quickly swapped in some Pagid Yellows in front and Blacks in rear for track pads while putting on my set of track tires. FYI the blacks in the rear gave a little more rear brake bias and the car brakes flatter.

Curious though, will the GTS not be a daily driver? Is it worth tweaking the alignment to run slicks if you'll eat your street tires? I think the RWS adds a whole new angle to this as well...

I can't see why you couldn't bring forward your Pagid choices from the 997, at least for the first set, to see if indeed the same brake balance will suit the new car.

Karl911...I see your aviator is Homestead...! Car came with Pirelli P Zero. I don't want to trash the street tires and with the group I run with R-Comp tires will be needed and that's what I've been running the last 10 years....not slicks like Hoosiers but something like Pilot Sport Cups 2's. I use to run Nitto NT01.

FithGear..my wife will somewhat daily drive the GTS. Just looking to see what guys have been running that are experienced track guys running in advanced solo and instructor groups.

Mdrums good to hear from you again. I remember you from the 997 GT3/RS forum.

1. 19" will fit RWS. It fit on my 991 GT3.
2. Agree. Will need almost -3.0 in front with R comps. Not sure how much you can get with stock configuration.
3. Alignment should be no different than my previous 991 GT3 / RS. Both had RWS. -3 in front, -2.5 in rear, neutral toe front, toe in at rear but no where near as much as 997 (can't remember exact value). Issue is caster. The 991 gets higher caster (10, 11) with more camber. I ran around 8 in 997 and about 10.5 in 991.
4. Brake pad swap a PITA compared to 997. Must take calipers off.
I was happy with stock pads in 991 actually. Used Pagid yellow and PFC on 997. Tried PFC 11 on 991 and was great too. Some guys like Ferodo but I've never used them.

Wow 991 takes a lot more camber than 997 cars right? I remember my 997 GT3 Florida Sebring group was running max at -2.5 front and -2 or less rear. That's pretty much what I ran on 18" Nitto NT01 in my 997 GTS.

While detailing the new GTS today I was looking in the rear wheel and there is a lower suspension arm that is right inside the rear wheel back side and I could hardly get my finger between it and the wheel.

anyone know if there is any downside to using R comps on the RWS motors - you're generating more grip and higher g-loads for them to cope with, just a thought?

I'm using Pagid RS 29 on mine and they're terrific.

Same RWS motors on gt3... zero,issues and I know guys tracking Hoosiers on them.

I didn't spec it and order it...found at a dealer 3 hrs away. Only GTS I could find in Florida. It has some things on it I wouldn't Order like glass sun roof, heated steering wheel..lol..I'm like seriously in Florida?...lol...I talked wifey in getting rid of her Panamera for this and I'll take to the track some...she bought what I was selling....this car will be around a couple years only.

I am taking my car car into the dealer to test fit my 19" track wheels from my old car for the new GTS. I will let you know what happens. The tech says it should fit but we shall see.

Do you have RWS?
Tirerack has 19" rims for the GTS, but not if it is RWS equipped.
Must be a knuckle on the RWS that is giving tighter spacing.
Be interesting if you can get 19's on a RWS car ( without adding spacers).

Yes I have RWS. I saw the tire rack thing a few weeks back and asked the dealer. I will probably know by Thursday
