991.2 C4S vs. 996TT (kinda)
A little father and son fun; picked up a 2003 996TT this weekend to 'hang on to' for a little bit. We drove down in the 991.2 to get it.
On the way back we did a few rolling races on the causeway between Savannah and Charleston on 17.
Not the best video, but check out the result. Link is below the photo.
The 996TT does have a fabspeed exhaust and a rennline tune with about 445 HP at the wheels.
Enjoy!

I'm surprised it was that close. I had a 2002 996 X50 with exhaust a few years ago and it sure felt like it would have walked away from my 991.1 GTS pretty handily in a rolling start race. The quoted 0-60 times were both 3.8, iirc, but the PDK's enormous launch advantage over the 6M was of no consequence in a race like the one you posted.
At any rate, that's a good looking TT you've got there! Congrats; hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed mine.
EDIT: Oops, just realized you have a 991.2. Ignore my statements above which were comparing 991.1 to 996TT. Much bigger difference.

Haha Interesting! That's pretty much exactly what we found but the 996TT would pull away a little more in most of our runs.
Where the 996TT delivers is in the feeling and the seat of the pants meter. When the boost comes on it feels like the car is lifting off the ground as it takes off. Like Nick said a definite adrenaline rush. And more wiggly in the turns. It's an exciting car to drive.
I still prefer the 991.2. But definitely goes to show you how capable that car was. 14 years later a C4S barely keeps up with it.

996TT was indeed a class of 1 in 1999 when it hit the streets.
EDIT: ditto my edit from first post. I'll leave this up though for anyone interested in comparison with .1. And I'll throw in a photo for visual interest...

Even though my 996TT X50 only had 20 more hp than my X51 991 (450 vs. 430), it had 460 torks vs 325 and only weighted 250 pounds more; that's why the dang thing felt so much faster. And why if you put the hammer down in a passing move from 40 or 30 it was absolutely explosive where the 991GTS has a more linear turbine-like build-up of power.
