Default Fading Weather Stripping

Some of the weather stripping around the rear windows is starting to fade...

Do you think this is something the warranty would cover?

Thanks for any input.

Have you been putting trim restorer goop on it when you wax? I believe it acts like sunscreen to protect the plastic bits in addition to making them nice and black again.

I have experienced the same deterioration and my car is garaged at home and at the office. It has been treated with high grade protection since new. The dealer told me that it would not be covered under warranty since it was not reported within the first two years of ownership. Please let us know if anyone has had this covered under warranty. Thank You.

I noticed my rear passenger quarter had this during first week, I think it came like this from factory on mine. Dealer is going replace ... I just have to get around to taking it in and dropping it off.

Thanks for the treatment suggestion. I've used high end products since new and it would have been well protected if it were environment related (garaged at home and office and driven less than 4k miles a year). However, if you look at the closeup picture you can see that it is like some coating that was on at one time has deteriorated. You can see that it is not happening in a uniform manner. All assistance and suggestions are appreciated.

Maybe the McKee's is worth a try. Least they want to prep the material first then apply the protection. Sounds like u need a 2 step process of some sort.
Below is the ultimate showdown of such products. It's long & pic heavy but....super comprehensive.

I have this on my 2014 Cab. Rear window area. I plan to ask the dealership about it in a couple weeks when the car goes in for its 40K service. At 42,000 miles now.

QUICK UPDATE. While my car was in the dealership this Wednesday and Thursday for the 40K serivce (I plan to do a little write-up soon, I just need to take some quick pictures of the replaced parts like plugs, engine filters, and serp belt), I brought this up. They photographed the fading parts, and I fully expect this to be covered by my warranty. Parts being ordered. I'll update again when I get the work done. Low drama.
