An interesting observation since I saw this thread and voted earlier in the day. Earlier in the day, the votes were much more skewed to CPO. As it gets later into the evening, the bought-new votes are surging (both categories combined). Maybe more bought-new guys are working during the day and more CPO owners are in their retired years? ???

Entered the lottery for a 60 year PCA car and won the right to buy. Wife said you'd be a fool to pass it up so I spec'ed it and bought it. Now it joins my '97 993tt and 2000 Box S as well as a well warmed over '95 S6. And as far as the money goes 1/2 came out of my "fun to speculate in the stock market" account and the other 1/2 was financed.

Started out looking for a CPO 991.1, then decided I wanted a 991.1S. Then decided I was going to keep my Mercedes V8 cabriolet. Then I drove the 991.2 and worked with a good sales guy willing to hunt around for a spec I liked and traded the Mercedes. He had it shipped from another dealer 125 miles away.
CPO .2 s are rare and go fast. I could not find one.

Definitely a little surprised by the distribution, but happy it's even. It's nice to know, on a discussion board where there is a long thread of people showing off their garages and talks of getting the GT2RS, there are a few of us who buy CPO (and are not ashamed of it).
I was the first to vote (obviously) and I'm a self-employed 37yo, so I think a few of us lurk in the daytime hours. I would think the opposite of StormRune. The retired guys were the ones to build their dream car and they're out on a drive, or at the golf course or something.

I bought a 2013S with a manual transmission CPO about 2 years ago. A few months ago t was totaled in a flood. It had 38k mi. and I paid $71.5k (Chrono, PSE and SPASM). I inquired about a few 2017 CPO's with manual transmissions (991.1's were overpriced IMO) but the response emails were going into my spam inbox and I did not see them. The insurance company gave me $65k for my car and it now had $52k mi and was going to need a clutch and new brakes within a year.
I went to the local dealership and they just received a new '17 base model with a manual transmission. I drove it and liked it. I tried to walk away and they insisted on selling it to me. I paid $95k and the sticker was $105.
The CPO may have been smarter because of the additional warranty but I really like the car I got new.
If you are looking for a PDK car, then your choices are much better.

My story:
https://rennlist.com/forums/991/9510...-new-ride.html
To summarize, I traded in my 991S (which I had originally bought from CARMAX, two years old, 7k miles) on another one that was a year newer (only 13k miles, CPO with 3 years left on the warranty) that had $50k more in options than my previous one - a really nice upgrade! Thanks to the magic of depreciation, it was also substantially less than the original MSRP.
I love this car!![Big Grin](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

I'd vote, but I don't see "won it in a PCA raffle" as an option.
