991.1 S4 vs S2 values
Okay starting the research process of purchasing my next P-Car. What are the relative up and downsides of the all wheel drive coupe or GTS (no snow where I live).
Coming from the 964 world the 4 wheel drive versions took a serious hit on value long term. Is this the same on for 991 in relation to depreciation ? Anything else to consider ?

I think the 964 had some reliability issues with the 4wd system. I think you will find the 991 and probably 997 and 996 4s are slightly more valuable because they are reliable, cost more when new, and there are less of them available.
Honestly it's mainly because of the wide body that they hold better than the 2s. The 4wd does make it appeal more to various markets as well. The GTS however seems to be even btw 4wd and 2wd, other than many 4wd models had higher MSRP's so the price may be technically a little higher but mainly just reflects that initial price bump.
The AWD system in the 911 wasn't designed for snow or poor weather. It can certainly be helpful in poor weather conditions, but it was designed to allow the driver to power out of corners faster in spirited driving situations on dry roads. The AWD system in the 991 is quite advanced, and it works very well compared to previous generations of the 911.
To me, the advantages are: added grip and the widebody look. The disadvantages are: added weight and added complexity.
Every 911 that I've owned has been an AWD car. I like the way that they look, handle, and drive. That being said, many people prefer the RWD cars. There's really no bad choice here; you just have to decide what you prioritize in a 911.
