Default Door sill plastic guard protection. Suggestions?

I have 5000 miles on my 17 C2S now and I detail it myself once per month. Wash, PPF protectant, Interior vacuum, clean and leather conditioner, window cleaning etc.

I enjoy my car and drive it frequently, almost daily. In doing my usual detailing I have noticed some minor scratches on the door entry guard plastic. Not the metal sill or the rubber seal but the plastic next to the rubber seal from getting in and out of the car.

I did a search here and a brief internet search and could not find a specific product. I use Lexol Vinyl protectant on all the vinyl surfaces inside and outside the car already which makes the surface slick but does not protect from scratches. Not sure how it happened as my shoes are soft rubber soles.

Does anyone have a product they would recommend or use for protection of the PLASTIC door entry guard ?

I use this on my plastic and as a quick detailer when I'm away from the house:
https://topcoat.store/

It's really good - but not as life changing as the marketing propaganda.

you can get clear bra and put it wherever you want. I put it on my sill when I go on trips. i know im going to be in and out with possible mud and water and dirt so I treat it like a temporary seat cover.
Any clear bra shop can do it or buy it on ebay

They're only like $90 to replace. Might be more fun to just use them and replace them when they bug you.

Yeah that is what I was thinking I would probably do. ^^

I have clear bra on my metal sills but I can only see it either not adhering to the plastic or making a mess. May try it though we'll see.

+1 on replacing when they get too worn. Every 911 and Boxster I've ever had suffers this problem.

They are inexpensive to replace.

If you're talking about this piece, it's PITA to remove.

Looking at some carbon fiber versions of this piece. How did you remove it? Would running fishing line under it work?

just pick up your feet and be conscious of not hitting the trim. No coating will protect against scratches.

I've gone ahead and ordered the driver and passenger from Suncoast, about $180 for the pair.

Any instruction or installation video for these in the 991?

Porsche used some heavy duty double sides tape. If you don't plan to keep the old sills, just pull them out as hard as you can. Hopefully, the tape will come off with the sills and not sticking onto the car... I changed mine to the Carbon Fiber version.

Some may be referring to a different part. I'm looking for instructions or video to remove and replace this part - that Suncoast calls the "inner door sill"

Yes, this is the part that gets abuse. The outer sill sits too low to hit or you have a weird way of getting in/out of the car.
