Well my chip that I had repaired did not hold after 6mo. Last week I stated to notice two small cracks coming from the top and the bottom of the repair (upper passenger side by rear view mirror) Then this weekend it really started to go, while driving the top one went to the top edge and popped, the bottom one was moving down and of course somehow turned and is now almost at my eye sight and moving left to right (probably going to go straight through sight line). My question is, I have a drive this weekend and would hate to miss it but wondering what issues I might have with some spirited driving and a crack?
I currently have an appointment for a new windshield on Fri. but I'm being told it needs a few days to fully set so shouldn't drive fast and keep off bumps as mich as possible (this was a friend), I haven't confirmed with glass company.
So am I out of luck and need to put off the drive?

I recently had windshield replaced on my Lexus IS by Safelite. They specifically told me that I can drive the car right away. Technician told me that those recommendations (allowing to drive) are based on the glue drying time. Safelite claims that they are using fast drying glue.
I would double check with the technician.
The SafeLite guy told me to wait an hour after installation to pick up the car, then it would be fully set. When I asked if I should possibly wait longer, he was fully confident that the sealant they use is fast setting and would be fully drivable within an hour.
I'm sure the glass company will confirm this, they'll have to eat the re-replacement if the seal is bad. I imagine your friend's info is well-intended but outdated.

Yeah, they also told me 1 hr. I kind of thought it would be ok but I didn't specifically ask about the drive for the next day. I'll confirm with them tomorrow. Thanks for the recommendation by the way. They said it would be the same tech. as yours.

No problem driving with the crack (windshields are glued onto the car and the glass itself sandwiches a plastic sheet -- nothing is going come apart), and no problem driving after the new glass is installed. The glue they use cures in an hour.
