People seem to like the PDK. I prefer the manual. The dealer said they were losing money on the deal...car sales...who knows. I paid cash and I still have the butterflies but not near the buyer's remorse I thought I would have. It is a good car.

Yes, I love the manual. It's not as fast as the PDK, but it's more fun for me. I had a little buyers remorse too as I loved my Cayman. It will pass completely - and in a short time!

I love my MT too. Speed of PDK shifts really only matters on a track. Around the city its just an automatic transmission really. To each his own.

Agreed. Where would one go to use launch control? Once you do it a few times....?
I lapped Mosport for an afternoon in my old BMW with paddles and its pretty good. Having said that...........PDK isnt for me.

Most of the performance difference between the manual and the PDK comes from the launch, where the PDK can be brake torqued and offers launch control. And, I suspect, the PDK's harder launch is mechanically less stressful than a 4200-rpm clutch drop or heavy clutch slip with a manual. If you're a drag racer, the PDK is definitely the wayt o go.

The PDK is also a multiplier of performance even more so on the new cars since the quicker shift times will keep the turbos spooled better. Likely a manual is still more fun! BUT, the PDK is even more advantageous on the new cars.

Not the smartest thing I did today, but I pulled the trigger. They just got in Friday and I bought it today.
Base model, manual. Paid $95k on a $105k sticker.
It's as quick as my 2013S, driving and handling is much improved, easier to shift and still thrilling but more refined

No, the only time it was driven without me was when the salesman went to get gas. We took it on a test drive and it had 26.2 miles on it when we got back. After driving this car I will say that it all around is a very good car. Porsche constantly improves things whether or not we are ready for the change. It still has that feel, but much more refined.

I am waffling between a 991.2 Carerra and Targa 4 both with manual transmission. I drove a Targa S last week and fell in love. I don't need sport chrono or the extra 50 HP. I don't understand why there are no Targa 4's out there in new 991.2 inventory but I guess it's about loading them up with the S which is more $$$ for everyone.

If you want one, order it. Shouldn't be a problem; but, be ready to put up a hefty down payment and sign papers obligating you to take the thing. The dealer, as I mentioned, does not want that car on his lot.

After driving some more, I really love the car. The steel (or aluminum?) sunroof, manual transmission and the wheels are what I love. This car is quicker than my 2013 manual transmission S was and I don't miss the sport exhaust, sport chrono or SPASM. The car is bad-***! I just got lucky, it was there and they wanted to sell, it was a Monday and everything worked out. The new 3.0 engines are an improvement but you do lose that "fun zone," as I heard Jay Leno put it of the 3,500 and 4,000 rpm's when the power kicks in on the non-turbos, but these engines make the car even quicker. I got to wonder why the S model is $14k more.
