Its better, but its not great. IMO surround helps make the music feel more spacious and not immediately next to your leg. Im not impressed with the stereo in the car at all. Granted its a much more powerful and larger system, the B&O system in my M5 blows it out of the water as far as range, adjustment options and performance.

Im curious how the Bose sounds next to the Burmester. Never got a chance to hear the Burmester system to compare it before buying my car.
