991.2 Voice Control Retofit Question
I'm going to take delivery CPO on a 2017 911 C4S w/o Voice Control. 2 questions:
1. Does it work well?
2. Can it be retrofitted (no definite answer on the forum)?

I would bet it could be retro fitted, Suncoast offers it as an add on for the 991.1. At the worst you may have to wait a little while for the 991.2 specific piece of kit (considering that the PCM units are very different).

I have the button on my stalk for it, but when I push it, it tells me that it is "unavailable". I have also lost my traffic information from my map although I am paying for a cell connection. I just haven't had time to research these problems.

My 991.2 has it and it was a no-cost option. I wonder why all cars don't come with it.
That said, it's not very good at all--way worse than Sync on ten-year-old Ford Focus.

The only thing I can get voice control to do consistently is advice my pandora tracks on my 991.1.
Otherwise it is useless.

I figured out the voice control yesterday, I just needed to plug in my phone. It connects to CarPlay.

The abysmal performance of the 991.2's voice control is disappointing. Five years ago, the voice control in an Audi S7 that I drove worked beautifully. Current BMW's also have excellent voice control. You'd think Porsche would simply install the Audi system.

Have had the same experience Audi (good) vs Porsche (bad).

I'm sure the reason voice control is not standard is that it sucks. My Mercedes' voice control is terrible. More of a hassle than it's worth.

So guess it is no big deal to be without voice control. Does Siri work well? Can you navigate to an address with voice only? I wish CarPlay would work wirelessly like with the BMW.

The best way to navigate to an address with voice in a 911 is to use Waze. And it even keeps you reasonably well informed about the police along your route.

My wife’s X5 voice control works flawlessly -speak an address and the Nav translates it accurately and takes you there. Also, in the ‘17 X5, Apple Car Play is wireless, no need to plug the iPhone in.
