Why oh why did I....

That's the best telling of that story I could imagine!
Similarly I was convinced for years that the five different Corvettes I had over the years were the best thing ever, the last being a 2007 C6. After getting my first modest Carrera 4 but finding I needed (yes needed) more power, my wife gave me a Christmas present of.... a choice of a brand new Stingray (they had just come out) or a CPO Carrera S of some flavor (yes, I have a great wife too!). We went by the Corvette dealer, looked at it for about 15 minutes just to try to give it fair consideration, but couldn't even begin to get my heart to consider it over a Porsche. Now I'm on Porsche number three and couldn't be happier with leaving the Vette's in the rear view mirror.
Welcome to your new addiction!

Ever sit in a 911! I was perfectly happy in my 2011 Corvette Grand Sport. Took a friend to a Ford dealership to pick up a car, on the floor was a 2013 S w/ 15k miles. God's beard this car is a work of art I said to myself. I sat in it and closed the door, whump! Whump, what was that! I opened the door and closed it again ( WHUMP)! It was the most solid sound that I have ever heard from the closing of a car door. Wanna take it for a spin the salesman said. My brain said noooooo but my mouth said yes, please. I read all the stories and looked at the videos that said this car was better built, more refined, faster etc.. than the GS. Better built definitely. More refined, sure. Faster, no way in hell I thought. God's toes this car really was faster than my beloved corvette. The car is sneaky fast whereas the corvette is in your face fast. So, I left the dealership feeling glum, arrived home and the wife said what's wrong. I want a Porsche was my reply. She said ok. So the moral of the story is ( marry the right woman). I am now the proud owner of a 2013 911s

My Dad used to own a Chevrolet dealership on Cape Cod and I owned 3 Corvette Stingrays. Then in 1973, I drove a 1972 Porsche 911T Targa and was so impressed I bought the car on the spot in Delray Beach, Florida and drove cross country to San Francisco. I am now on my 6th Porsche 911. I never looked back. PORSCHE: THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE.

A little OT but my only Corvette experience was in the late 1970s. My high school buddy had an aunt with a Corvette and for some insane reason she agreed to let him drive it around one Friday night. I was the lucky passenger. We headed out on the freeway en route to the local cruising lane where all the high schoolers hung out. We were going to be so cool in that car. Literally a couple of miles down the highway we were doing about 120mph and went by a speed trap on the other side of an overpass. Busted! So I spent the rest of the evening trying to calm my friend down and assure him that his life was not officially over and that he would survive it all. But he had some pretty serious restrictions for awhile after that one. But seriously, loan out a Corvette to a high school kid?

Have to agree and welcome to the fold.
Had a C5 and got rid of it after 1500 miles. You have to drive a Porsche to understand the addiction.
Take this from a guy equally mad for AMG'S my two Stuttgart mistresses stirring next to each other in the garage.

I traded up to Porsche from Corvettes for many of the same reasons you did.
I loved my Z06 and for the money Vette's are great cars, but they just don't give that supernatural experience that Porsche's do. Congratulations on your new car.
