Can't Stand Rattles - Avoid the 991?
#33
Two out of five have had rattles. 997 was worst but there was a kit at hand to fix the (dashboard) rattle. I could not understand why the factory could not have installed it? My GT3 has squeeks and rattles, worst has been fixed, but yes it is a hard sprung car and there is always the volume button on the Sound Plus package.

People buy Porsches for a reason. Build quality is one of the primary reasons. I haven't had any rattles.

I expect better from Porsche. Like I said, my first 991S had rattles and my second (and current one) does not, thankfully.

Just dropped my 991.1 C4S off a few hours ago at the dealer for 3 or 4 different rattles. Sunroof, passenger A and B pillar. Extremely annoying but working through it. Trust the dealer will find the issues and repair.
He also told me today that here in the PacNW, this region has the highest warranty claims for rattles. Roads aren't great, but the admission that there are a lot of warranty claims for rattles was pretty surprising.
Agree, it's a fit and finish issue. Nothing is supposed to rattle and can't get my arms around accepting it as a given when you buy a 911. My 997 C4S didn't rattle..

Guess I gotta stay consistent!

I'm working with Sunset Porsche in Portland/Beaverton. Good folks. I told them it's their 911 until it's fixed. Doesn't matter if it's 2 days or 2 weeks.

My 13 was quiet as a mouse until...porsche kindly replaced my door panels. now the driver side rattles and squeaks. I kinda feel guilty bitching about a courtesy repair outside or warranty, but I think I will anyway !

For the three Porsches that I had or currently have:
1. Cayenne Diesel 958 - Quietest and no rattle at all. Felt built like a tank built in East Germany
2. Boxster 987 - No rattles. Must be the refined workers in Finland
3. 991.1S CPO - Annoying rattle from driver's side door, around speaker grille. It will rattle even when music is off. Annoying rattle from back of passenger side seat. It sounds like the seat belt is hitting the B pillar. Rattle disappears when someone sits on the seat.
Is it me or West German labor is less meticulous.
Brought the 911 to the dealer and returned without any fix. SA says mechanic found rattles to be normal. ???
[Edit: Anyone knows of an independent shop in the San Francisco Bay Area that is good at fixing rattles? Thanks]
