Great video, as a always!
We switched to LED in our cars a number of years ago. My biggest observation was how much crisper the "edge"of the light was on LED vs Xenon. The LED is awesome, but it goes black after the light ends where I felt the Xenon did a little better job giving more coverage on the periphery.
I love the look of the LED's and would never go back.
Will be interesting to see this comparison once the upcoming laser headlights start to become available on cars.

Very nice comparison.
I have Xenons on both my cars because I won't purchase a product that the US regulations will not allow to be implemented fully.
I believe that the ability to turn off LED elements for different lighting situations will ultimately be the best to have but until we have full implementation in the US, I will stick with the Xenon's.-Richard

Anyone know if our Porsches with LEDs can be coded to enable similar capabilities?

The four big advantages of the LEDS are
(a) durability (very little to go wrong with them)
(b) lifetime x3 to x5 the life of xenon
(c) the eye perceives the light as similar to daylight and thus helps reduce tiredness during night driving
(d) the ability to manipulate the beam to different circumstances.
The standard PDLS has a speed sensitive range control, whereas the LED PDLS+ has the dynamic main beam function which uses a camera to detect oncoming traffic, lights and reflections and adapts the range and output accordingly (you simply put the lights on auto using the column mounted stick).
I have the PDLS xenons on my GTS, great light - I have the LED PDLS+ on my .2 S and I would go with the latter option again - the dynamic function is tremendous it continuously adjusts the lights in a completely seamless fashion - its telepathic.
Also it seems to me, the total number of lumens available appears greater with the LED (effective lighting is a combination of both lux and lumens).
You can't go wrong with either lighting option although I have a definite preference for the LED PDLS+

Nick, thanks for doing the comparison video. ;-)
The LED headlights definitely is cool. My friend has those on his 16' Cayenne S, it's super bright at night. I just couldn't justify the cost of $3190 CAD especially when the xenon PDLS works pretty well too.

I hate people who have LED headlights in the US. It'd be fine with the anti-dazzle like in Europe, but since that's illegal with our idiotic 18th century bright/dim laws here, the brighter overall illumination concentrated into tiny points of light are like needles in the eyeballs of anyone you pass.

I am ready to order LEDs for my .2 GT3, but only if I can get them coded to ROW spec like BMW owners seem to be able to do.
What I'm looking for is more brightness driving at night on mountain/rural roads. Nicks video demonstrated that the LEDS are notably brighter than the Bi-xenons on low beams only, but the LEDs are equivalent or slightly worse than Bi-xenons on high beams, and more brightness on high-beams is what I"m looking for.
Anyone know a shop that can code/unlock full LED brightness on 991 Porsches?
