Default 95 Octane for 991.2

Just wondering if I took the car on a trip and couldn't find 93 octane and only could find 91 or 95, could I mix the 91 with 95 to make 93 ?

Would the 95 hurt the car ?

To be sure, you'd have to datalog the car to see if its pulling timing (i.e. knock retard) on 93. If its not, 95 does nothing for you. If it is, you may see a small benefit.

There may be a benefit to running higher octane. Newer type ECU's run open loop and will increase ignition and provide greater performance. Tuners these days are extracting a lot of hp from ethanol based fuels as well but I don't see the Porsche platforms being experimented on or supported because of the cost of engine failure may be a little overwhelming for most.

Where are you going to find fresh 95 octane fuel that is unloaded?

Sounds like a nice problem to have. I'd be happy just finding some 93 in California.

95 would be just fine! Even better than 91 or 93. Go for it.

Actually there are a few very high hp (800+ I think) 991 turbos and turbo S's I've seen around forums/social media, so, you'd be surprised.

As far as the octane goes - I ran 100 (supposedly, claimed by the sketchiest Sunoco in NJ, it was probably 97 tops) octane on the 3.8 NA for a tank or two last year just out of curiosity, the engine did feel like it was running a tiny bit smoother -- but it might've been purely psychological. I'd say no issues w 95, but when in doubt try to avoid 91 --- the mix should be "ok" in theory I presume (people usually do mix high octane ethanol w regular gas for similar purpose, or octane booster chemicals etc)
