hey guys,
would love your thoughts. I have an allocation for a 991.2 4 GTS (may delivery) but can't stop thinking of picking up a 14/15 991.1 CPO'ed Turbo S.
This will be a daily driver. I thought before perhaps getting the 991.2 Turbo S, but i can't deal with the depreciation.
What do you think? The price is almost the same +/- 10k.
Thanks!

I went through this and decided on a .2 Turbo
I wanted a custom car and an updated PCM/Nav. The older Porsche PCM is annoying. Of course, everything goes out of date eventually.
.2 Turbo is in the same cost ballpark as a .1 TTS. Performance is roughly equivalent.
I'm not sure I'd let resale dictate this decision. Smart money is NOT buying a Porsche. Everyone has an opinion on which car they prefer. It's not a logical process. Some people will prefer the GTS based on looks. For some, the Turbo is a bucket list thing. Get the car that speaks to you.

You'll love either!
For similar money it really depends on how bad you want the experience of owning new. The TTS is a ridiculous beast my any standards and you'll never use all of the power... but what a rush every now and again.

I considered a new 991.2 C4S cabriolet when I bought my 991.1 TTS cabriolet. Either one would have been excellent, but the TTS has already taken a huge depreciation hit, and it had all the equipment that I wanted. I'm very happy with the decision.

probably will go with 991.1 TTS
advantage : great car already lost a lot of money so the depreciation curve after that is slower as compared to a 991.2 GTS
Both are Turbo engine so the NA VS Turbo argument is not there
both are AWD
Technology in GTS is better PCM etc
not driven the .2 GTS but I have driven TTS multiple times . It is a beast of a car
may be wait a little bit till you can drive GTS and then decide which way to go

def one of my concerns is the PCM. But i don't think it's enough for me to warrant the new car expense.
what's funny is the dealership is trying to tell me that a new GTS will depreciate less than a used TTS. i can't see that being true.

Those rules don't necessarily apply to the .2 GTS, particularly a 4GTS.

991.1 Turbo S. If you're going to go Turbo might as well get the real one. Plus the depreciation factor.

Go for the 991.1 TTS----the car has already experienced the major depreciation and it feels much faster than 991.2----
The second major issue for me is the reliability of the 991.2----New Engine from Porsche (1st year)....we tend to overlook that many car manufacturers, including our beloved Porsche use the public for addtional years of real world Research and Developement....yes---you will be helping Porsche discover the weak links of this new drivetrain---
My rule of thumb...never buy first year of any new car (even German ones)
Cheers

What's the concern with the PCM in the 991.1 TTS? I know it's not the latest version, but it does everything I could ever want. It was a HUGE upgrade from PCM 2.1 in my 997 TT. Is it lacking something specific that causes you to be concerned?

Am going through the same process, just heard today that I have a May build slot for a 991.2 GTS... I was toying with a used .1 turbo S or new .2 turbo S. I've pretty much decided that I will take the GTS. Reasons.. I can spec it exactly as I want.. folding buckets,no sunroof, pdcc & rear steer, the colour I want (graphite blue ). I have searched a long time for a 991.1 turbo S but cant find the spec I want. Also I prefer the clean shape and regular wide body to the turbo (which is still great). The only issue is that I'm driving a turbo S at the PEC silverstone tomorrow. Hope that doesn't change my mind...

Resolution and CarPlay integration. I prefer the new system.
