Default is 60k miles too many for a 2011 turbo s

Have a line on a turbo s with 60k miles. I drive my current turbo maybe 3k a year. It's a 2007 with 40k. I'd like to trade up, and this one trades at a pretty big discount to one with half the miles ($10k). Just wondering if I'm getting too close to a big repair. Any thoughts?

Curious why you're asking on the 991 NA board when your question's about a 997 Turbo?

That Mezger motor is bullet proof. Assuming the plugs have been done recently, there shouldn't be many engine maintenance issues. Also maybe check the clutch. Typically Turbo guys have a clutch replacement at this time.

There was a 996 turbo with hundreds of thousands of documented miles for sale, which I believe shares similar architecture to the motor in the 997 Turbo S. I say go for it if the maintenance paperwork checks out.

The one he's looking at is a 2011, which used the 9A1 motor, not the M64 Mezger. The last Turbo with the Mezger was 2009, iirc. I had one of each (996/997.1) and they were wonderful old beasts!

^^ correct. I assumed all 997 turbo variants had the Mezger Motor.
