Creaking sound when turning the steering wheel

I am afraid this is completely normal...
If outside temperature lowers, and mostly with summer tires, you will have this crackling sound. It's due to the assymetric layout of the front wheels.
They all have it. (Those with winter tires or rear wheel steering a bit less)

I had a double take watching your video, because I thought it was the video I took a few weeks back, until I saw the PDK indicator on your dash ;-) (mine's manual) My car is doing something similar-ih, except it was more of a styrofoam on styrofoam squeeeeak, or the sound chewbacca might make when stretching.... yours sounds like a creaky spring... Does it come and go ? Mine does, seems temp/humidity related, I bet something in there expands and contracts and could use some lube...
I could not reproduce at last dealer check, did not seem worthy of expenditure now that I am 4 weeks out of warranty. I'm waiting for it to get worse so it's hard to miss for the tech... pretty sure it's not dangerous.

In my case it's not an outside noise or tire related in any way, it's definitely in car very near me, in the steering mechanism.
Have not looked into my dash, I have 30 stitches in my back right now and it's gonna be a month before I consider this kind of contorsions, I'll live with Chewbacca for a while (grooming is a bitch).. Good idea though, will take a look inside - problem is it's intermittent ;-) Good news is it's intermittent on the rare side.

That would be a better story... No, 3 layers of 10, it's not long but it's deep ;-0
Driving the 991 right now is excruciating, in traffic... But I do anyway, without pain meds, because I did not buy a Buick ;-) Some you win, some you lose.

Hi...has anyone on this forum with 991.1 experienced this sound while turning the steering left or right? The car is parked. Thanks in advance.

Use a Steelman Electronic Ear or mechanic’s stethoscope to listen and isolate sound while another person turns steering wheel. I isolated squeaking sound to my LF strut mount. Sprayed strut mount with silicone and sound disappeared. So, replaced my front strut mounts.
