Default Modded C4S vs. Tesla Model S P90D

Cruising on the freeway a few night ago and as usual a joker pulls up next to me and tries to race. I'm not one to easily back down, especially when its a car that I think can hang with me. We did a couple of 50-110 pulls and even though he was a little early on the throttle I still pulled away with ease each time.

I've also raced against a Fully modded 750hp M5 and stayed with him the entire way.

My only performance mods are:
Cobb
AWE exhaust
IPD Plenum
BMC Filters

I know, I know, not the smartest thing to do, but it was late and very few cars were on the road.
Also have the K40 for a little added protection for stupid events like this.

The electrics have crazy acceleration from a dead start but torque falls off as speed increases so your result is not totally surprising.

I'm not surprised by this either. See my sig. Acceleration above about 75 MPH is hard for the Tesla. It will smoke anything 0-30, most things 0-60 and then becomes about average for a sport sedan above that. It's not going to run with a Porsche at triple digit speeds. It's not a race car.

Just learned that the tesla cannot do a track lap a top speed due to overheating... so king of the drag races at or below legal speeds, nothing else (for now)

That's probably correct, maybe it could get a lap or two but nothing more. Discharging the battery very quickly creates a ton of heat. It will be interesting to see how Porsche deals with this in the Mission-E.

makes perfect sense. It pulled to 75 but that was it. It's like he let off the gas pedal!

I was more surprised with my car hanging With the M5. He was running somewhere in the 700s for HP. It's a buddy of mine's car. He says it will cruise over 200mph and feel like you're sitting on the couch. Sounds great and is fast as hell!
He and I pushed 145 on a straight away for quite a while. I was surprised that I stayed on his tail the entire time.

not sure I follow you.
In the first paragraph on my post I'm talking about the experience racing against the Tesla. Where's the confusion?

Increased overall system voltage.
