Default A Couple New Mods And Warning

Made a couple new additions to the 991 this past week. First was a Vorsteiner carbon fiber rear diffuser. Now, before some of you get your panties in a wad, I do not track this particular car and I seldom drive it 150 m.p.h. on the street, so this mod is purely aesthetics only, I like the way it looks.

Warning! One mistake I made was 10 months ago I tried to save a few bucks and purchased a NR Automotive carbon fiber rear diffuser. I'm telling you, it's a POS. I don't think it's even carbon fiber, it seems to be made entirely of fiberglass with a carbon look. It weights a ton compared to the Vorsteiner and after 6 months it started falling apart! Took that anchor off a through it in the dumpster.
See attached photo.

Second mod was the OEM third radiator and Rennline Grill Screens. Both are excellent products that installed as advertised.

Sorry for the rant.

I also like the look of the diffuser --- how hard was the install?

I had a local German automotive shop do the installation, according to them it was straight forward, no problem.

There have been many warnings about NR Auto. Bad news.

Great job with the rest after the drama.

Looks nice, congrats!

Did you have a hole drilled for the oil drain?

Not a fan of the diffuser (to each his own) but love the Renniine grill screens. They will help keep a lot of crap out of your radiators had similar on a GT3 they really work. Thanks for posting this.

No they did not drill the hole. The shop that did the installation said they do oil changes on a particular model BMW that requires a special funnel that they will use on the 991 to drain the oil without removing the diffuser.

We'll know if that's true next year.

I'll get more information from the shop and post here.

They drop the one end of the diffuser and use a flat pan of sorts that funnels the oil out. Quite a few do it this way.

I'm sure that must be it, they weren't concerned at all about draining the oil.

Yes, their product is absolute CRAP. The first one I got in the mail was shattered. Luckily I filed a dispute against them on paypal and got my money back.
