Default 6 disk CD/DVD changer in 2017?

Hello.

Long time Rennlist reader and I have learned many things on this site. I currently own a 2015 base Carrera and I am planning on ordering a new 2018 Carrera. I have the Burmester package in the 2015 which comes with a 6 disk CD/DVD changer. Does the 2017 still have 6 disks or is it only a single slot CD now? None of the information I have read mentions 6 disks anymore. After reading Rennlist, I have learned to try to use CD's in order to get the best out of the Burmester. Thank you.

It's my understanding that the 991.2 only has the single CD/DVD player. Having said that, when I was looking for my 991.1, there was a lot of confusion at the dealerships about which cars had the 6 disc changer and which ones didn't. At one point, I was told that it was a very rare option (and good luck trying to find one). At another dealership, I was looking at a car that I was told several times didn't have the 6 disc changer, but when I got it the car and checked, it had one. My 991.1 does have it. You might have better luck if you checked with Porsche North America to 100% confirm it.

Many prefer to download music on their phone or digital device. As such, I think Porsche stopped putting in multi CD changers in their cars. When I had by 2013, I ordered the 6 CD changer. When I traded in for a 2015, the only option was 1 CD.

I've reviewed the 2017 Owners Manual and don't see any reference to a disc changer. It does cover the "Jukebox" function as well as accessing a music library on the USB stick along with the limitations on number of files. I checked under "Bose", "Burmeister" and "CD"

Thank you for the replies. I guess CD's are considered old tech when you have Apple Carplay.

I guess if you want higher quality uncompressed music you can always put in a single CD. Otherwise, like with the rest of the cars out there, we are forced to live with compressed file formats via USB etc.

Who knows, maybe a 6 DC changer can be added to a 991.2 as an accessory? I'm sure there are companies that can add a CD changer through an "AUX" input of the head unit has an open port.

Sometimes you have CD's that aren on iTunes. But iTunes can rip CD pretty fast. So pick the ones you like and start the download! Kinda like cd in cars have gone the way of the VCR
But it is a pain converting CD to digital but once done its behind you.

You can get better media pay on a USB stick using the correct format. I would not be concerned too much for the CD, it may be more work to move the music but much easier in the long run. Just google which format is needed for your music.

I too had my 991.1 GTS built in September 2015 with Burmester stereo and it has a six CD system. My previous 2014 C2 991.1 with Bose had a single CD system.

I just bought a 2016 with Burmester. So it's in the dash and not in the trunk? It doesn't let me load any of the slots.

Interesting. I have Burmester in my 13 C2S and I load the discs one a time. Maybe they changed the system before introducing the 2017 models.
