Default Weird Parking Brake Noise

Carrera S 7MT. I always park in gear with the brake on.

So you know when you engage the brake normally and you hear the motor make that whine-swish sound? Well, occasionally, like 1 in 5 times, when I get in the car for the first time in a while, I'll hear the brake make that same noise as I sit down. It's not quite as long in duration. If the normal e-brake noise is 2-3 seconds, this is about half a second. Almost like its sensing the vehicle moving and grabbing a little firmer.

Anyone else have this happening?

Yes. I have observed exactly what you state. I don't think it is the brake 'grabbing more'. I think it is actually releasing a little. It does this after my parking brake module was replaced under warranty b/c it released enough that it would trigger a flashing brake light that the system was not functioning correctly. It took about a week plus for them to diagnose and fix. The hand brake was so much simpler

Interesting. I didn't think about it loosening, instead of tightening.

Did it again this morning. Odd.
