A high profit, out of sequence, money grab.

Do your own. I use Chevron Fuel System Cleaner with Techron prior to every oil change. One tank of fuel prior. About 300-400 miles.

Default brake fluid flush

LexVan, what is your opinion on having a brake fluid flush? (dealer recommending)

My 2015 GTS has under 8,000 kms and is approaching two years since delivery.

Dealer is quoting $800 (canadian) for oil service, brake flush, air filters - which to me is way too high $$$!

I also always negotiate the first service in the deal...

Yes, flush your brakes every 2 years. I do.

Cabin filter? Or engine filters?? Do the cabin filters yourself. Easy.

Any basic mechanic could do a brake fluid flush. Find a good shop that is familiar with motorsports and they could probably flush the fluid for under $200. No need to overpay for the fancy Porsche dealer invoice.

That's what the service writer told me, nxt svc is gonna cost ya!!! He said because they do the brake flush. Something I can do myself as well as filters/oil etc. He also said see you next year...don't think so.

What a racket!!!!
wow! I would ask them for itemised cost estimate for each of the component parts and labour. Even with main dealer rates you could buy a fair few hours labour and parts for that money.

Here is what they proposed. Car has 12K miles on the odometer and they are already promoting the 40K service.

I never thought of negotiating that into the purchase price. Clever.

For me, maintenance so far has been $0. I do as much of my own stuff as I can. I enjoy bonding with my car. Oil and filters, brake pads and fluid, air filters, pollen filters, etc. And the dealer resets my dash reminders for free.

I do as much work and maintenance on my own car as possible too.

However my car goes out of warranty on 2/08/17, and thought taking it to the dealer for a maintenance check prior to the end of the warranty was a wise choice. Little did I know that they would attempt to "scare" me into an additional $2K+ of service. Seems unconscionable to me to try and frighten customers into spending money unnecessarily.
