Default Burmester vs Bose - sound quality question

Another one of these questions -- searched the archives and didn't see the answer I was looking for...

I'm a big believer in source being the most important component of the audio chain. With CDs, I know Burmester is clearly better. My question is, on suboptimal sources like Pandora, Satellite, Spotify/Apple music -- is there still a meaningful difference? Does Burmester still stand head and shoulders above Bose?

Sometimes very high resolution systems sound worse than cheaper systems if using lower quality material.

Thoughts and experience appreciated

I don't have experience with the .2's Burmester however I do have audio experience with the Bose system since I had Bose in my Macan Turbo and now the Bose SS in the 991.2.... for me, I certainly noticed the improvement in clarity and sound quality. It sounds better and clearer in the .2 than in my Macan. I literally/actually grinned once I played & cranked up my tunes... on both Apple purchased files and on Pandora. I'm sure the Burmester would be better (it better be for that price) but I'm quite happy with the Bose.

If you enjoy music on any level, get the Burmester. It's a small price to pay on an already very expensive car. I stream music via Spotify 320bit option, and the Burmester 991.1 I tried was much more crisp and full than my BOSE. It is the one option I wish my car had more than any other.

The BOSE is an embarrassment on a car like this, I don't know what Porsche is thinking by partnering with them.

I have HK in the BMW and Bose in the 991.2. The HK is incredible, the Bose isn't much better than the standard system in the 981. If I ordered another 991.2 tomorrow, I wouldn't waste my money again on a Bose system. And at $1500, it was a waste. I'd go aftermarket. JMHO.

The HK in the BMW has subwoofers under the front seats. It rocks.

Thanks all. I'm going to add it to the build.

I love my car audio but the car is so loud that I'd have a hard time justifying Burm. I agree its all about the source.

Playing compressed files on an expensive system doesn't do much, imo. If you're going to play CDs or FM, then you'll notice more difference. For Sat radio and mp3s, not worth the $.

Spotify and others are CD quality.

This has been the dilemma. I don't think the Turbo is particularly loud, but it's a small cabin and not ideal for sound -- unlike a large, quiet SUV, for instance.

I'm hoping that the Burmester is better at handling crappy sources. I'm not a Bose snob, but I've never been too impressed, overall, with their stuff.

CD quality is probably somewhere around 1400kbps. Spotify at it's highest end is around 320kbps.

Past 320k you can not hear a quality difference in a car. And only maybe on high quality audio system in a treated room.

That's probably true. A-B in my home system I can clearly hear differences, but that's a high end setup.

While I'm waiting for my first Porsche to arrive so i can't comment directly, I thought I've read in several posts here that the interior noise of these cars is such that no matter how much money you put into a sound system, it gets drowned out by tire and other road noises.
