Some funny **** in this thread, but the OP's 'I got pepper spray' comment, said with a straight face, has to be the funniest.

Their not attacking people driving around around. This isn't Africa.

You are not living in that much safer place than Mexico: #45 usa vs #41 Mexico Crime rate. We are not living in Europe, where people actually are civilized.

Look for trouble, you will find it ANYWHERE, but they are not Hi-jacking tourists left and right.

And I'm the crazy one huh??

This is better than the watch, house, and passenger thread.

Had an old friend catch a pipe to the back of his head in TJ a few years back. Stole his wallet then pulled his boots off and they discovered his $ 500 cash/stash. I had to wire him the $$ to get back to LA. GFL in TJ. T

Agreed. I keep several .45s and know, for the most part, how to defend myself (except against someone who's a better fighter than me). I never thought of pepper spray. Next time I drive to Mexico in my 991, I'll keep some on me just in case.

Best use for pepper spray in Mexico is for seasoning food.

OP, I think you're nuts, but I truly hope it all works out okay for you and you get home safe and sound.

Funny story, years ago I was working for a consulting firm and we had a cross border ag client with a target in Mexico that required some diligence meetings on site. At the time, there were a number of very high profile abductions of U.S. businessmen down there. I refused to go. My boss and some colleagues laughed at me and called me the spoiled American, to which I said, that's fine, I'll be the alive American next month. Anyway, long story short, one of them went in my stead and wound up having to be escorted the entire time by guys with machine guns from location to location, all of which were guarded by guys with machine guns on at the entrances and rooftops. When he got back he told me he would never step foot in Mexico again. Not. worth. it.

Hope she's hot.

A friend of ours rode his Enduro all the way through Mexico to Central America. Thought he was indestructible; used to brag about how he would ride anywhere. Somewhere along the way, can't remember which ****hole he was in at the time, he was assaulted and robbed and suffered a severe brain injury. Lost everything, has no memory of what happened, never the same after it.

Yeah that one made me chuckle seriously. While I don't think its driving a 911 in Mexico is the riskiest thing you can do with that car, I personally wouldn't do something like that. And this is coming from a guy who has hung out in several different favelas all over Rio. The older you get in life, the more you appreciate the simple things.. like no drama and getting home safely.

I'd rent a comfortable car that doesn't stick out terribly.. like a newer Camry and use that for my trips into and out of Mexico. Its always fun, till shyt gets real. And when it does you can't help but wonder what were you thinking.

Can anyone else foresee a Mexican road trip add next to the Tuscany adds in Panorama?

OP, there is a theme here...You are adventurous and completely nuts! Seriously be careful. I took a surfing trip down to Todos Santos, Baja in a Mazda Navajo 16 years ago. Those roads are desolate, dark and have cattle that sleep on them at night to keep warm. Livestock are , surprisingly, hard to see so watch out when taking those spirited drives at night.

You can add cow collisions to the list of dangers that can kill you. Good luck and be alert.

I'd never drive my car in TJ, but life is short.. plus women make our species think with the wrong head
Women are unimpressed by sports cats in general.
