The winning Tiger I (your photo) design was by Henschel. Porsche's VK 4501 (P for Panzer) heavy tank contender to mount the 88mm Pak was eventually turned into the Panzerjäger Tiger 'Ferdinand' - more popularly known as the 'Elefant'. It was heavy and notoriously breakdown prone.
I was a tank geek (since age ~10) way before I was a Porsche geek!

The funniest part of this story is the drag race that Hitler ordered. Hitler (being a lunatic) decided that no competition between super tanks was complete without a race. The Porsche tank exploded in flames after a short distance. Why ? Ferdinand had created a revolutionary ingenious hybrid electric powertrain ... Sound familiar ?
