Base build - 19" or 20"?
Apologies for dumping all my questions into this thread but automotive forums are always the most informative places to go get pre-purchase help....
Finalizing my near-stripper order. The base Carrera comes with 19" wheels. The next step up is a $1580 difference for the 20" S wheels.
I have seen both these wheels independently, but never side-by-side. Wondering if the 20's are required for the correct proportions and appearances. (Do the 19's make it look cheap?)
What is everyone's experience?

I have the wide body 4 so I thought the 20's would look better overall . I'm not particularly fond of the 19 design, either. The 19's also look harder to clean. A salesman said get the 20's and that little push is all it took for me to select the C S 20's.
I like the S Spyder rims best cuz they look a lot like the rims on my Competition Pak E9X M3 . Loved those rims. But, I'll be damned if I'm going to pay 3560. No way!
If I had to do it again, I might go 19's. Especially if buying a base. Stay away from the 20 Carrerra Sport Wheels. Those things are, IMO, FUGLY.
If I were you, though, I'd obsess more about the colors, in and out, than the wheels.

I love the 19's. Think they're a great looking wheel. I wouldn't do them on a SPASM car though. I was thinking about a base C4 and was planning on going with the 19s.

I have the .1 version of the 19"s for winter and like them better than the 20"s that come on the S as far as looks go. I also like the look of the base exhaust better than the S. YMMV

Wheels make a car! Even a 911. Get the wheels you want/like the best! If they are aftermarket, get the standard 19" for winter setup or track, and the wheels you like most for the remainder of the driving pleasure. The S wheels are the lightest of the 20".

I'd do 20s, although understand additional cost. I agree on the Carrera Sport wheels being mediocre when silver, but order with matte black option and they're awesome. That's what I did and I get a lot of comments on them. Plus the black hides the brake dust.

Thanks all, I think I'm going to get the 19's, then come next winter, I'll put on snow tires and they will become my winter set. After that winter I will invest into a fancy 20" setup like the bronze superleggeras (car will be guards red).
That's where my head is at the moment, but it's not an easy call.

The only downside on the .2 is that you can't do PCCB or RWS with the 19's.

I remember reading that the 991 chassis development was optimized for 20" wheels. I don't have the reference on hand, but you might be able to find it with a bit of looking around.
I think the 19's look fine - and will obviously save $ - but it's a very personal choice. Wheels do make a difference in finishing the appearance of a car.

I'm tempting to purchase the 19" winter wheel/tire set so I can drive my 911 all year round; however, since I am going away for more than a month this winter season, I'd save it for next winter. Personally, I think the 19" also looks good on .2 base.
