Congrats on a beautiful 991, and on a smooth delivery. I'm (hopefully) about to join the alumni group soon (PPI next week), and will post results and pics when it's all done.

I will need a cross country delivery and am researching shippers who can move the car from WA state to North FL. Tried Intercity, but they don't do that run. Who did yours? Transit time was amazing, and I hope all wa good with the delivery. Were you pleased? Were they competitive?

Trying to avoid brokers and arrange a direct connection with an individual shipper who does this directly. Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

Hoping to post "happy new owner" pics soon!

SFZ, with regard to your question, I negotiated the price of the car to include the dealer doing the logistics in transporting the car. My main request was that it had to be in an enclosed carrier. I got the impression that dealers use a centralized web-based dispatch system in which they send requests. Carriers who are in the system respond to the requests. The dispatch system vets the carriers for insurance and compliance with government regulations. In this way, carriers who have extra spaces going on a certain route can maximize their profits. I bet this what Ebay transport brokers use.

I learned a lot from this transaction. It looks like the country if connected with lots of small business truck carriers who make a good living through this way. Kind of like a passenger car sharing system.

I don't know how you are buying your car. If it is from a dealer, just ask them. If it is from an individual, maybe ask Intercity as to what other carriers they would recommend?

[note: If you are desperate to get you car asap, you can arrange for a different kind of carrier] - This
Haha, yes I am desperate, not sure that much tho!! I'm buying private party and have talked to a shipper who works very similar to what you describe. He has a pool of drivers how he puts the bid out to and then gets them committed to the move. He is in FL and runs trucks nationwide. Price is good, he guarantees closed truck with lift ramp and "once on, once off" loading. Was hoping for some direct experience from a member who arranged his own.

Thanks for the detailed reply and good luck with your beautiful ride!

I don't know with whom you're specifically working with, but as a word of caution there's a high degree of variability in this market. In my younger days I used a well known, albeit lower cost, transporter for my e46m3 cross country. It was fine until they"lost the truck and couldn't contact the driver" for like 5 days somewhere in the Midwest. Eventually he turned up and had been "sick" holed up on a motel (I don't even want to know). Since then I've only used Intercity Lines and they are fantastic. I've heard good things about other high end companies as well. Not to scare you, just don't rush too much

Hi, I'm new here. Live in LA, but just bought a C4S in Atlanta. What shipping company did you use? Thanks!

EDIT: I continued to read and got my answer. I'm also purchasing from a dealer. Hope to post a proper introduction soon!

Picked up this guards red 2014 c2s from X2Board via HFS last November and drove it 1500 miles back home. Loving every minute so far.

Congrats! Love Guards Red, yours is stunning.

Waiting on my shipper to confirm pick up, delivery. When it's "mine" I'll post as well. Soon, I hope!
