Default 911.2 C2s back end kicked out

First time I have had a slip with this car. Big noise. Traction control?

My adrenal glands have been permanently depleted from years of motorcycle riding A lot less of an oh sh*t moment with four wheels, although I was a bit worried about the concrete wall on the right.

Yikes. Great job keeping calm and the car in one piece. Sounds like traction control triggered ABS, maybe?

Yeah, maybe the car was using some abs type brake pulsing to work against the rotation. I certainly did not have my foot on the brake.

This is the wake up feature that kicks in when you're listening to sleepy music.

Do you have RWS? I wonder if that had something to do with the noise.

ABS I certainly think...I have felt the modulation kick in like that when I ripped around a 90 degree intersection right turn quickly and was aggressive on the gas pedal (just last week) and in the morning so wet dew and cold tires. Agree on the tires if its cold and you don't have winters yet. Doesn't seem like you were going all that quick for the turn.

Yes the car has RWS. I was not going that fast around the corner but I did pretty much bury the pedal on the exit. I was assuming that the traction control would take care of things. I am not changing to winter tires. I will just go slower This is a weekend only car so if the weather gets really cold I will leave it in the garage.

yup...that's when mine kicked in on the bury the pedal part. just take it reallllly easy. I lived in Chicago and left summers on my R8GT since I knew it was bout to move to florida and others too deep into fall in the past before switching...zero traction below 40 certainly (true hockey puck) and limited through the 50s. Do a little test as you head out on a cold day and tap the brakes hard or do a parking lot test acceleration/turning/stop to get a feel for the limits of grip when you do go out...they are low...say stopping quick for anything... Just in a parking garage turning hard I had the tires big time slipping. traction control can only help as long as there is grip to be had. I experimented on a sunny 15-20 degree day years ago with my old TT that I backed it out of my garage and there was just some light ice but still pavement/a little sandy...it had a slight incline to the drive...spun the wheels the entire way just trying to get back 20 feet. Zip grip.

Thanks for the suggestions. Will be very careful and just avoid driving the car in cooler temps. Helps keep the lease mileage down too.

It is is still fun finding the limits in a safe place...not often you can get these cars to spin at will. kinda fun.

Same thing happened to me on a ramp in summer right after a storm and the road was wet. Needless to say I have more fear of the rear end pendulum effect. We think our 911s are invincible but this is a wakeup call to the laws of physics.
