Default 991 - help

Guys, sold my 997 and ready for a 991. Was going to wait a while but my friend and I went to the LA Auto Show last week and I drove his loaded Cab S-PDK with Sport Chrono Plus, etc. That pretty much did it for me..

I am looking at 2012/13s Cabs w/PDK, Sport Chrono and Bose. Those are pretty much it for my requirements/budget.

Need your help with any potential issues that 2012s or 13s have shown to be common. Especially any major, like $1,000+ to repair or replace....

Obviously maintenance items like brakes can be costly but anything else stand out...early model 997s had the IMS issues but none for later years. PDKs have heard can be rare problems and very expensive if rebuild or replace is needed.

Thank you...

Good luck on your hunt for the right 991.

Buy a CPO and drive with confidence.

Thanks so much for the replies, very much appreciated. I had spoke to my shop and he said the same thing but owners are a great additional source.

Most have said that this is not an issue, but after being burned on four first MY cars, I have not bought one in a while. So when I started searching for a CPO 991, I eliminated the 2012 cars altogether. Depending on your budget, you might want to do so as well.

Although as I said, there do not seem to be any more issues with 2012's than the 2013's so YMMV.

Good luck! There are plenty out there, so be patient for the one that meets your requirements for options, etc.

I had a 2012.5 991S for two years, replaced it with a 2013 991S (loaded with much more options). I wouldn't hesitate on getting a well-taken care of 2012.5. Great cars!

Needsdecaf - when you say most have said that this is not an issue, what are you referring too please?

Thank and that wont be a problem because I am strictly looking at Cabs only. My 997 was a coupe and I only got rid of it because I wanted a Cab.

There have been other threads like this. Owners of 2012's have not had any more issues than newer cars. Not have there been many significant upgrades until the 991.2.

I got burned on my 535 and Volvo V70R where the first MY had significant common issues that were sorted by the second MY. Or nice upgrades. Or both.

So you will probably be safe....but I'll never do it again.

Until I can't resist.
