Default Front spoiler lip replacement

I really don't know how it happened since I am always very cautious of parking my car but my sport design from spoiler lip has been damaged.

My question is it a simple DYI project that a somewhat novice can perform? I would purchase the part from suncoast and have it painted at a local body shop.

Since that one is already damaged, you can't really mess it up. Get in there and see if you can remove it yourself. If you can you will know whether or not you can install the new one. If not, then you haven't really lost anything. Good luck.

Looks like some damage up and to the left of the cracked area as well. You hit something, or something hit you.

Just be glad your spoiler is of the fixed in place variety. Running over a parking block held in place with a piece of rebar sticking out of it took a chunk out of my active rubber spoiler. It still deploys fine, but there is a small semi-circle bite taken out of it. The part alone is about $2k.

I've replaced the lip on my 997 several times. You can do it by yourself, but better with a second person. Get the plastic prying tools to help get the lip off the front cover. Don't force it!
Also, you need a long extender 6" w/ socket to remove your headlights. Since the socket kept falling off the extender, I glued it on.

There two push pins on the bottom outside corners, then it is just a straight pull to get the spoiler off. Very easy to re-install. Get the AeroCup replacement from Suncoast .~)

Update:

I purchased the AeroCup(because the more scoops the faster the car right?) spoiler replacement from Suncoast, at what I must say was a great price, even the owner of the body/paint shop I took it to was surprised.

They did an amazing job painting the spoiler lip and I had both my rear reflectors painted as well for under $200.

After much reading, I wanted to install it myself and it was simple. I was able to save the existing rivets which are a bit more beefy than the ones I ordered and after those two are out, its just a bit of wiggling and muscling the existing spoiler out.

I will be taking it back there next week, to have film applied to the new lip and a full detail.

Now for the pics.

I know the question will come up. It's not lower. Just has the middle cut out "look" and the two aero features.

The middle inset part gets painted black on it to look like it's cut out and fall into the background.

Ya, when I first ordered the lip I didn't think there was anything between the two scoops, based on the picture.

Anyone use this? Do you think it would protect the spoiler?

Scrape armour costs $500, replacement lip costs $200. Go through 2 lips and still be ahead of the game.
