Default 911R - enough is enough

It is bad enough that those of us who love Porsches are not permitted to buy what many feel is the ultimate 911 for a fair price and now this:

http://www.suncoastparts.com/product/SKUV2911R118.html

It's a freakin toy that they make in a limited edition for a stupid price.

Buy ten of them....store them in your closet and don't play with them.

Sell them in 3 years for a 50% profit.

Done.

I like the side striping with Porsche in it(side decal set), does anyone know if the price reflects the quality?

Price reflects the Porsche tax.

I guess if you have enough FU money to buy the 918 in order to buy the 991R then $500 for a toy replica isn't a big deal.

I think they missed the boat on this... Pissed off more fans than they pleased collectors. The true spirit of an R could have been a lightweight decontented 991, with a slightly breathed upon motor (not necessarily a GT3 one), that 6 speed manual box and suspension/steering tuning... Sell it for GTS money, like hotcakes, put a nail in the coffin of "Americans don't buy manuals"... Opportunity missed. Everyone I know is more angry at the R's unavailability than excited it exists...

That makes too logical sense. Make a car that the consumer really wants??

They know a car like that would kill sales of the 991.2 base/S/4S. They're not even surpassing 991.1 sales as is.

Porsche is more interested in selling high volume broad market reach cars. The "enthusiast" plays second fiddle to that.

I thought that they were expensive but after seeing in real life I nearly commissioned them to build one of my Ferrari. But then decided the life-sized one was way more practical... the only time a Ferrari has been considered "practical".

Wow - I can't believe Ferrari is charging that much for the models. Boggles my mind. I know when you a new order for a car they give you a model for your desk but $6k to $8K+ you gotta be out of your damn mind.

Vote with your wallet. I'm also not buying the Apple coffee table book.
