Default Addition child (& wife) proofing

Saw my daughter nailed the edge of the door on my wife's SUV against the 2 foot brick wall that outlines our carport. All the cars now have this on all doors. Unnoticed on the black X3 and charcoal 5 series... I don't love the look as much as the piece of mind.

Can you see it? Look horrible?

I think it looks OK, as you normally get a dark shadow in that region. The black trim sorta looks like a shadow, and it matches the window trims. My dad used to do a similar thing to his cars years ago. It will stop a certain amount of door damage.

Listen, if you like the .1 better, feel free to keep yours and enjoy it! It's not a competition.

...Oh, sorry, I was on auto-pilot after seeing who the OP was and didn't bother to read the actual content. Alright, then...

Those door strips have always screamed "Japanese car" to me, for some reason, and I'm not sure I like the black/red contrast in the middle of the body. OTOH, I'd gladly take the hit if my chances of avoiding damage were significantly decreased.

Looks decent. Maybe you could try painting them red?

I think I would pad the brick wall that outlines the carport first...

I like it. Kinda gives it a throwback vibe.

Is the blue tape part of the edge protection? The tape sure makes it pop.

Seriously, I think it looks OK and better than the alternative.

tape is temporary. The plastic just needs to be held in place for a bit.

Does have a cool retro look to it.

Did you consider clear door edge guards? Maybe too dirt magnet-ish?

Previous owner of my car had the edges wrapped with PPF. Only problem is that it's very visible..

Teach them grasshopper.

You can feed your child fish, and they will forever be hungry. Our you can teach your child to fish, and they will be forever be fed.

Your wife may be too old to teach, at this point, but not too old to spank!
