Radar detector
Does the 991.2 have a 12v plug under the glove compartment that is switches on/ff by the key? My other 911 the plug was on all the time and discharging the battery when leaving the radar detector on.

How often do you use your radar detector? Just curious. I have one, but have been using Waze primarily and not bothering with the detector (got tired of false alarms).

OP: I've virtually certain that it is the same as the 991.1, it's not the kind of thing they tend to change in face-lift years. As Jimbo said, it turns off a little while after the car turns out (I thought it was 15 minutes). In any case, that's currently where I draw power for my radar detector and dash cam using an angled lighter y-adapter.
Waze only helps when you are out in well-traveled areas. On the back roads it is pretty useless in my opinion, especially in the early weekend mornings if I'm out early to have fun before the traffic picks up. My Passport Max does a phenomenal job of filtering out 98% of false alarms, at least in areas I've traveled before. I'd highly recommend it (and here come the detector wars as a hijack!). It remembers false radar signatures and locations after it has seen them three times. I'll credit my Max with a multitude of correct back road and main road saves, far more than any other method, and I use both it and Waze on road trips. I actually get tired of all of the vehicle-on-shoulder alerts in Waze more than anything.

Thanks StormRune. Agree with you on use of detector on the back roads. By the way, You can turn off the shoulder notifications in Waze. You have to go into the settings to do so.
