Seeing the "3.8" badging on the GT3 wing made me realize this. When that first appeared it was on the 993 RS3.8, which was powered by an amazing 300hp 3.8, compared to the normal 993's 282hp 3.6. (Hey, it seemed like a lot of power for a Porsche in 1996!) That car was never imported to the US.
But on later model GT3s, the badging seemed superfluous, sort of like Crossfire Injection or EFI or Disc Brakes or IRS badges still being stuck on cars years after those were no longer differentiators. And that's the category the GT3's 3.8 liter displacement falls into, at least with 991.1; 3.8 is just standard fare.
But now, assuming the next GT3 still has a 3.8 (or a 4.0), that will be a great differentiator, the largest Porsche sportscar engine, something to brag about.

Brought car in again for sunroof
Dropped car off again this morning for 2nd attempt at fixes of weird noise coming from behind left ear and sunroof squidginess. Called and said they would need the car until tomorrow. Don't care as long as it gets fixed. They gave me a brand new Cayenne S E-Hybrid. Not going to win any beauty contests that's for sure but I do love the way it drives.

Happy to report unwanted noises gone
Sunroof seals replaced and driver's side seat latch mechanism tightened. It took them a whole day to figure out where the noise was coming from behind left ear. Apparently the wire inside the seat connecting the upper latch mechanism to the bottom of the seat was loose.
Comparing grilles
Side by side I definitely prefer the GTS grille and will definitely leave it in place if going with ducktail
Love the satin wheel finish, would look great on my GTS wheels breaking up all the black.
Got my baby back from the shop.

Missing the GTS
Usually drive on Sat early mornings when the weather is all clear, and today would've been one of those days. Car's been away since Tuesday getting complete paint correction, Xpel Ultimate and Ceramic Pro. Thought long and hard about making the investment because I will probably get a new 991.2 GT3 6MT when available at or below MSRP (and who knows when this will be). Plus my car was already 7/10 but this non-metallic black GTS deserves 10/10.
Also, decided to remove the GTS side logos and the "911 Carrera GTS" on rear deck lid.
I'll post plenty of pictures upon its return.
Also, considering 2nd set of wheels (either BBS FIR or OEM centerlocks) and some winter shoes. Although the car will never see non-dry winter roads my concern is the temperature, and it's always in the back of my mind when taking her out in the cold. If I get the BBBs I might go with the Platinum finish. Although there's nothing wrong with he matte black, a change would be nice. On the fence because it's such a huge $$$ commitment and I'm uncertain whether or not I will be able to use on new GT3. If I went OEM I would have them refinished in OEM platinum satin.

I bet Porsche will build more thank you think! And even if they don't, wait long enough and it will happen.

The BBS wheels in platinum will be killer but yes huge investments into the car if you plan on selling it. That's money that's never coming back but then again you can argue this about the entire car and related depreciation.
Do what makes you happy , not what us Internet forum members think!

I'm new to the GTS group . I just purchased a 2015 GTS with the center lock wheels I'm considering picking up some wheels from a turbo and the offset is The same in the front as the turbo but the rear wheels are offset ET 52 on the GTS and 59 on the turbo. I was wondering if anybody has any experience using the turbo wheels on a GTS and if they will fit appropriately on the rear?

Can't wait to get my car back from Dave at Butzi Gear in Milford. I hear great things about his shop and their attention to detail. More pics after collection, hopefully this week.
