Hello fellas;

Planning a trip to Geneva for the auto show in March 2017. Any places you guys recommend to stay and visit? First time in the nation.

Thanks!

Your hotel should already be booked. Many people sleep 40 miles away from Geneva during the show.... I'm serious.

Take a lot of money - its expensive!

For how long? How far you want to travel?

thanks, I'll have to bookmark that cafe. Planning on staying for 2 nights close to the venue but yes, prices are steep. Oh well, you only live once and I really want to see that magnificent 991.2 GT3 with a 4.0 and a stick

Thinking for spending the rest of the week in Germany and doing some sight seeing including a visit to the wailing wall

I live in Geneva and go to the show every year. Be aware that it is very crowded even in week days, also huge traffic jams.

My recommandation : Starling hotel (very businesslike) and close to the motor show and airport (walking distance). Downtown is ~20 min (train + walk).
Other option could be a small town by Lake Geneva, called Nyon, it's 30 min train from the motor show and airport. Nyon is very cute and you have plenty of good restaurants and bars.

I used to live in Switzerland and go there every year. I lived in Bern, and we would just hop on the train and go down for the day. It's a beautiful train ride, too. Sit on the left side and you'll enjoy a nice ride through the mountains, vineyards, and down along the lake. For me, it was a one day and done thing. If that's the same for you, I would pick my location based on other interests for tourism.
