Default Thoughts on Wheels

Thinking about taking the plunge and getting aftermarket wheels. I love the Spyder RS rims but they are a PITA to clean! I'm looking for a more open spoke design that a) shows off the brakes better, and b) is easier to clean.

My first decision has to be whether I go with a monoblock or multi-piece. IMO, the monoblock is more sporty while the multipiece is more interesting.

However, with either decision, I'm really torn about the recent popularity of gold tones (i.e. gold, bronze, etc.)

Would love some feedback with your thoughts (perceptions) of a car with gold or bronze wheels.

It would be an easier decision for me if my car was say Agate Grey with espresso or beige interior. Then the bronze/gold wheel would actually fit the theme.

However, my car is white with Bordeaux, so I'm not sure where gold/bronze fits in the color scheme!

Any thoughts, pics, feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried looking at the photo gallery on the HRE wheels site? I'm sure there are a few photos of white 911s with various color schemes.

Oh yes, I've looked extensively and personally I do like the gold/bronze on a white car. It looks sharp.

However, I'm asking about perception. When I see a white car with gold wheels, I think either elegant or attention seeker! I'm just not sure if I should pull the trigger. This is why I'm asking for your perception rather than the typical question of "what looks best". Thanks

I guess I can appreciate your question, but other people's perception of my car doesn't matter to me. To each their own, some people might perceive me as an a*@*%$! just because I drive a Porsche, but that's their problem.

I'm assuming you've seen this 991 Turbo S that we've done right? Seems to be on par with what you want!

I don't want to bombard you with photos, but I do have at least two more photoshoots with white 991's that have Bronze HRE wheels just in case you want to see more. I think there are tons of color options to choose, but the Bronze finishes are impeccable. Though it's my personal opinion, I tend to lean way more towards the Bronze finishes just because I feel the finish in person is stunning, but it's a preference. There will be plenty of other people saying, you should go with Black or go with this or that finish, but I would stay true to yourself and what YOU really want, not what others want to see. Should you feel later you've made a decision that you wish you could change, we can strip and re-powdercoat them for you at a later time.

I think the perception of gold/bronze wheels on a white car will vary from person to person but if you go with an elegant style and the proper shade of gold/bronze then people will lean more towards the feeling of classy rather than flashy. Case in point HRE's beautiful Brushed Gold:

I think we all agree that neon pink plasti-dipped wheels is a universally bad idea. Personally, the bronze is nicer than the gold and less shouty.
