Motor Trend 2016 Driver's Car ... 911 C2S Hot Lap
I've been watching all the Motor Trend 2016 Driver's Car Youtube clips. Here is the playlist if you are interested. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...fli18aDuwlOdKH
I always like to hear what Randy Pobst has to say about a car. Not that his opinion (or anyone's) is the end all be all, but he clearly has a lot of experience under his belt. I'd wager to say that so far, the AMG GTs (which won last year) and the 911 are his two favorites.

Burning Brakes
Have not done any track driving in my C2s, but spirited back road driving confirms what Pobst is saying. Fantastic grip and very precise. PDK in sport+ mode is better than I could do in manual mode. Seems like only difference between the car he tested and mine is ceramic brakes.

He's not a fan of the GT-R.
He really likes the F-Type SVR. Very surprised. Don't think he likes it as much as the Porsche, but he notes that it's a big upgrade from past cars.
The Viper ACR...he was 3 seconds off his best lap time...which was still a 1:31. He doesn't talk at all during the review which means he's really concentrating. Calls it a "race car", which it more or less is!

Again Randy raves about the ceramic brakes. The PCCB haters will not be happy. But, but, but...it's just added boost....

Are there PCCB haters in this day and age??? I didn't realize that. I knew Gen 1 versions had problems on 996s, but figured they were past that by now.
Mind you, I'm a "$10,000 added to MSRP for brakes" hater, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't like if somebody else paid for them.

Haters? No but for anyone who tracks regularly, PCCB's are a liability. Too expensive as a consumable.
Any dealer that tells you they will last the life of the car even if tracked has got a bridge to sell you too.

I've never heard about a dealer telling anyone that, and I wasn't referring to cost.

Nice accolades about the Pirellis.

0-60 in 3.1 sec?! I guess the other instrumented test posted here recently at 3.2 sec isn't a fluke. Anyone else shocked at how fast the 991.2's are? I also found his comment interesting about how he "had no sense" that it was a turbo engine and that it "just felt like a 911".
991.1 owners are happy with their cars. 991.2 owners are happy with their cars. Things are good.
