Power steering plus
I have 991.1 S without it. Is it worth installing?

Has anybody retrofitted it?

I de-installed it. Well worth the $130 (1 hour of labor) to be rid of it! It's just a reprogramming to either add or remove. But to add it costs something like $400 for the option plus the labor to install. Removing, of course, only costs the labor.
I'll go ahead and save Archimedes the trouble of posting:
Arch: "I have a 911 with it and a Boxster without (or vice versa). I think it's fine; haven't added it to the one that doesn't have it, haven't removed it from the one that does. People who say they can feel a difference are posing. It completely deactivates by 30 mph."
Me: "But it's at slow, parking lot speeds that I actually WANT heavy, tactile steering feel. PSP robbed the car of that. Even without PSP it has too much low-speed boost for my taste."
Arch: more stuff in support of keeping it.
Me: more stuff in support of axing it.
ad infinitum.
EDIT: HA! I couldn't even get it typed before Arch beat me to it!
So you're going to add it now? I'll need to edit my mock-post.

I can't decide whether I like it or not. This car has a lot lighter steering than either of my Caymans did and prefer heavier steering. However, I do like not having to muscle the steering wheel to get into a parking spot. I was thinking of having it disabled when I first got the car but am going to keep it for a while longer. Not sure if that is helpful or not...

I didn't like it on the cars I test drove. Felt like the car was on a bed of ice. I guess it's good for the driver who wants to park using one finger while holding a cup of coffee and a cell phone.

It's a deal breaker, one of the rarest and most important options you will ever find. I wouldn't buy a 991 without it. It completely changes how the car handles at low speeds.
Okay, I jest....
I had power steering plus on both of my 991S's (including my current one). I bought both used and they were already equipped with PSP. It certainly makes it easy to steer at low, parking lot speeds. I also autocross and haven't seen any negative effects. But I am really used to the feel and it seems predictable enough to me.
I'm not sure I would order it on a new car and as far as retrofitting it, you have to ask yourself if you are really bothered by the effort to turn the wheel at low speeds? I mean, the car came with some sort of power steering, right? I used to drive a '77 VW camper with no power steering - now that was a bear to drive at low speeds. I have a feeling that the 991 without PSP is nowhere near as bad as that hahaha!
But if it does bother you, spend the $ and get the software changed.

My preowned car has it and I would turn it off but my closest stealer won't do it - "could cause an unsafe condition" - goofballs.
I find the steering in the 991 is too light as it is, and like others have said prefer to have more feel and heft at lower speeds
