You need to take your car only to a Porsche Certified Collision Center, make sure they have a Porsche frame machine to repair it to specs.

Basically if any aluminum body work is bent you can't (or Porsche won't) unbend it ... So you have to replace the parts in question which usually means cutting, welding and painting if external...

How much damage has to be done for it to be totaled?

I'm starting to wonder if porsche's definition of fixed will differ from my insurance's definition...

Your car is NOT totaled. Needs to have repairs well in excess of 65% car's value.

I used Eli's Auto Body for front bumper replacement on Carrera several years ago. New bumper cover was installed, but clear coat had drips when I picked it up. After sanding drips match never looked a 100%. C+ job in my opinion.

Just throwing this out there, any Certified Porsche Collision shop will not repair a panel of the car. They will literally cut the entire panel off and replace it with a new one. I don't know about you guys, but I can't fathom the idea of CUTTING my car. I'd much rather have a little bit of fiberglass filler than cut panels and after market welds.

that's typically the case *if* the body part is aluminum which cannot be 'repaired' in the same way other metals (steel) can by 'straightening' ...

Hopefully a police report was not made because that would put it on the master accident database and kill resale value.

In Ca you are required to file a report with the DMV within 10 days of the accident if any of the following are true:

1. There was property damage of more than $750 or
2. Anyone was injured (no matter how minor) or
3. Anyone was killed.

I think this is easily qualifies for (1) but thankfully not 2 or 3!

Wow I once had a cop talk me out of a report here in SC for damage caused by someone else because of the database and insurance reasons. Turned out it was just wheel damage so he saved me.

Negotiate devaluation with the insurance company in coordination with the cost to repair.
