Can you remove them and drop off at a quality paint shop?

Not sure, but thanks for the suggestion.

For paint, look into Ultimate Paint Shop in Lake Bluff. They do all of The Porsche Exchange's work.

Thanks. Although I purchased the car from The Exchange, I live in the city. Lake Bluff is a little out of the way.

They have a newer location, too. In Highland Park. A little closer.

An "S" is of more value to me than the wider hips/trim changes of a "4"

Thanks.
Of the C2S and C4 with your described usage, I would lean towards the C2S. If it were going to be an all season/weather car, the 4 would make a stronger case. If you really won't use or enjoy the extra performance of the S, I wouldn't hesitate to consider the base C2 as it's plenty fast and will be the lightest weight of the bunch. And if you're one who just loves the body of a 4, get the 4. All of these cars are expensive and unnecessary, so go with your emotions and you'll be happy writing the check!

If you're mostly looking for fun and handling in the summertime and don't need the back seats, I'd also consider giving your favorite of the cayman/boxster/718 models a test drive.

Thanks. I need a 991 though - have two kids aged 6, 9. I drop them at school/camp on the way to work every day.

I can relate completely - that's a major part of why I have a 911.

4S and negotiate the price down... As noted above, the hips and the rear lights at night make the 4 much better looking.

In Canada a 4S nicely equipped is around $150,000. Pretty hard to negotiate that down into the $130 - $135,000 budget I'm working with. As it is, my local dealer is telling me he is doing me a favour if he gives me 2% off - he says most people pay retail, including someone I know who has bought a new car from the dealership every 2 years for the last 30 years. Like I believe that.

I was thinking to buy a nicely equipped C2S to drive for several years. I ended up with a $138k USD build I really liked but I couldn't help but think it had too many options for a non-keeper car.

I changed my order to a TT - it came with a lot of my options as standard and I expect I'll want to keep it longer. I'm very happy with the change.

Starting from a 4S I bet it's easier still to consider a TT as an alternative. It blows the budget, but is the budget firm?

I considered the C4S when I ordered my C2S and decided against it because the car is only driven during the Summer months and goes into storage from Oct. to April. As far as the appearance goes, the C4 is 1 3/4" in. wider in the rear than the C2S. If it wasn't for the tail light, it would be unnoticeable. I opted for the Sport Pack with SPASM for the same money. That made it a better car for me.

Keep in mind, all this stuff is very subjective.

Seems like the 991.2 C2s is wider at the back than the 991.1 version. Maybe because the 991.2 has wider rear tires?

Drive the C4 and see if it appeals to you enough. As goods as the new systems are the weight distro and driving dynamics of AWD are just a different experience.
