Locking your 991.1
I have noticed some variable behavior when I lock my car.
Usually I get a double beep.
Sometimes I get a rapid double beep.
Sometimes I get no beep atall (but lights flash and car locks).
#2 or #3 make me go back and check that the door was really closed properly and it always is.
Anyone else notice this? What's going on?

So, sometimes I get the same. As I reflect upon situation #3, it happens when the car is already locked and I hit the button again just to make sure.
I don't recall situation #2, but both may occur when you do it successively.
"One ping only, Vasili".
Equally perplexing is when I hit the button and nothing happens. Takes several attempts to get it to respond. This only happens, and I am NOT making this up, when I park near the front door at my local Hooters.
The farther I park from the front door, the less the issue.
Really! I am not trying to make humor here. I think that all of the RF signals from the Hooti-Fi (their word) and 40 some televisions may actually be causing RF interference.
Works perfectly everywhere else, so it is NOT the battery. I have changed those out regularly since it is a simple task.

OT - Speaking of beeps, I sure wish it were illegal for auto makers to use the vehicle's horn as the lock/unlock sound. Occasional panic attacks when backing out of a parking spot and someone nearby locks his car. I don't need any extra grey hair.
I hate it too! In Europe cars had a separate sound for locking and for the alarm, not sure now thought.
If you push the button once, the car locks with all security features avaiable.
If you push it twice, the car locks but no security alarm.
I have the 'beeps' disabled on my cars.
Porsche Service can do this.-Richard

They've done studies you know. 60% of the time, it works EVERY time. ;-)
2 quick chirps every time for me.
