Default 991.1 vs 991.2 MPG/KPL

One of the reasons Porsche went with FI is average fuel consumption. The other was wanting to penetrate the Chinese market. I'm curious how much better, in real world driving, the 991.2 cars are averaging. I have a 2016 991.1 GTS, 7MT & I'm averaging exactly 17.0 MPG. I have 4,500 miles on odometer & have tracked her twice. Most of my driving is typical Houston stop & go.

My 991.2 C4S usually gets about 26mpg on highway at 75mph. Doesn't appear to really change much on county roads where we live.
Haven't monitored it in stop & go traffic in Chicago or Milwaukee with Auto Stop/Start ON.

My commute for the past couple years in the .1S (PDK) was about 33 miles of mostly flat highway with CC on at 75.

I'd usually see right around 26 in the parking lot just before I turned the car off. I'd say 25.8 - 26.4 was the most common range.

Run through your PCM functions until you get the screen that states how many MPG you are getting. That will state your average. Just curious.

My 2015 .1 C2S Manual 7 spd gets ~17 mpg around the suburbs with a little bit on expressways here, and 23-24 avg for Interstate trips. I also should tell u that I'm a lead foot around town, and tend to cruise at 3500-4000 around town. On the Interstate, I've only used 7th gear twice.

Why would anyone not cruise in 7th on the interstate? Just like to listen to the drone and waste gas? Trying to increase your engine cycles and wear it out faster?

On the PDK it's slightly annoying to have to switch out of Sport Plus back to Sport to be able to shift to 7th, but on the manual there's no logical reason not to use it.

Mines a garage queen, seldom driven far. I drove it up to the Rolex 24 Hrs 4 days in a row, 35 miles from here, and only used 7th twice. I ship it back and forth to Chicago and Autobahn CC is only a quick 30 mile expressway ride. No 7th gear needed. There is no 6th gear drone with PSE off. 6th is a high gear ratio. Gimme that close ratio 6 spd manual they use in the 911R!

I get >30mpg easily when I'm commuting on the highway. When I'm driving intentionally... the average is not good

C2S 991.1 here.
