Default Launching a manual RWD 991 GTS 0-60mph

I was out today in the Sunday morning sun, and had some wide open road ahead of me several times with not a car in sight. The view was panoramic and I could see very well for at least 1/4 mile around me (in farm country) and I decided to test my mettle and skill. I am no track rat and admittedly more of a "Sunday morning driver." However, I have been driving manuals for most of my life so I am not a novice at it either. I stop the car to 0mph in the middle of the road where I can see there is no one in sight. Push clutch pedal down to floor, and increase revs to about 2000rpm. I then slowly release the pedal while I give it gas and it takes off but not as quick as I'd like and I think it can. My next attempt I do what they call "dump the clutch" which I tend to avoid but I wanted to see if I was doing something wrong. Increase revs back to 2000rpm, drop it, but then the car shudders as if about to stall, but then catches and gets in gear. However, it was needless to say very unsatisfying. I did it one more time with the same result. I didn't want to push it further. So my question is what is the best way to go about launching with the 991 manual GTS? What RPM do you hold? Turn of PSM? Do you dump the clutch and hit the accelerator or use a more gentle technique? Suprisingly, I did a google and rennlist search and there is sparse information on this fine art as the advent of the PDK Launch control has taken hold.

More rpm 3-4K, get right at the friction point and quickly let out clutch while increasing throttle to maintain rpm to prevent engine bog. In short, be more aggressive and treat that clutch like your bitch.

+1. I'm not one for launching off the line but follow what the pdk does. If I'm not mistaken 4500 rpm dump in launch control mode. I would keep the PSM on for the launch and then quickly off because it slows the car down in the 1st to second gear shift by applying the braking for a slight wheel spin which is basically irrelevant.

I think the PDK does more like 6500 or so. I would describe it as violent and not sure it's appropriate for a dry clutch.

I launch mine at 5000 rpm - that is the sweet spot. If you launch at 5500, you'll spin too much and if you launch at 4500, you'll bog too much.

Right around 5k on my awd sport plus on traction off. The best example i can give you is imagine you are walking and feel like your are about to step on a nail, glass something sharp and you quickly bring your leg up. That's about as fast as you want to release the clutch.

Get the RPMs higher. All the weight is sitting on the rear axle and the rear wheels, so 2 or even 3,000rpm won't do anything. I remember trying the same thing on my 13 991S.

Don't look at it as "the clutch", it's a sync between clutch and gas pedal, you need to fail in order to learn how to use it at its best.
