I'm sure you could modify that cutout to fit a raincoat, or use a very thin raincoat folded in there.

Earlier 2012.5s PCM was different HW and limited in how far you can UG the SW. Sad but true on the umbrella cut out. $80+ for the bumbershoot, nothing at Porsche is free! Had a 2012.5 C2s launch cab and now a 2014 C4s cab. Other than those two points I see no differences (other than C2 vs C4 of course).

Crap! Had numerous previous Porsches with that and had no idea. Now I have a 15, learn what it is, and don't have it.

I didn't know about it until I saw that pic on Suncoast. Then it had to be mine...

A few options were not available on 2012.5, too - entry & drive, etc. Also didn't have jukebox available, I believe.

I think it's 85 bucks or so. It had better be a titanium core umbrella for that price. Or just Porsche lettering...

No Chicagoland snow? I know you winterize your car every year but you are missing a great car 4-5 months each year. One that does rain and even light snow very well.

Re OP: I had a noisy 997 cab but it was caused by the metal bows that cross side to side. One or two had come loose. All other cabs (7 in total) have been quiet. My 991 had a wind deflector noise when down that the dealer fixed. I love the lines of the coupe, and finally the 991 cab "matches" the coupe very nicely when top up. When top down, it is an altogether different (better IMHO) sports car!

I consider the umbrella a nice touch for my passenger (my wife for example)! Maybe that is why it is in the passenger side sill.

Love the detail of the umbrella. Too bad it's not on the '16 model

As far as I can tell from my research, they are identical, but I don't want to miss any upgrades or additional options if I would buy a 13 instead of a 14.

Any other suggestions are welcome too!
Sorry if I'm stating the obvious, but all else being equal, get the car with the longest warranty. I'm a big believer in buying the newest car that you can reasonably afford. If it's CPO, then the 2014 will have warranty until 2019 or 2020 depending on in-service date. These are very reliable cars, but they are expensive when they break. Go for the peace of mind.

Okay, I mainly bought the umbrella just to fill the hole hahaha! But I have actually used it once or twice in an emergency. I usually keep an umbrella behind the drivers seat but it is a nice backup.

But without that hole to fill, I probably never would have bought it LOL...

Wow, thanks for the advice guys! I was in a meeting all day and only just now had an opportunity to check the forum. I was so excited to see I had 29 responses and even more excited to learn that 20 of them were about the Porsche umbrella!!! (-:

Canefan, regarding the warranty comment. All else being equal, I agree on your warranty comment. But one of the things I am weighing is that all things are not equal. A similarly equipped 2012.5 has a 15-20K delta to a 2014. I could pay for a lot of repairs and still be ahead of the game. I was hoping I would learn of some significant advances in the 14 model year that would help me justify the spend. Umbrella holder slot not withstanding...
