Their ads say the redesign cut the noise level in half. What are the chances there will be a third-party comparison test? Pz4 vs MPSS!

I like the PZERO's.

What ever happened to Michelin for the .2??

They even had Michelin info on the Porsche website right when the .2 was announced. That fall through?

I for one would like to see that!

its nuts, Michelin have screwed up big time with the MPSS for the 911's ... they missed a big opportunity to take business away from Pirelli IMO

It's all about negotiations and $$$$. A contract with PAG for an N0 spec tire is worth big $$$$$ kickbacks for PAG. Whoever ponies up up the $ gets the contract.

I am sure it's a lot of money, but in relation to the bigger tire picture. 911 OEM tires sales are probably tiny sliver of their total tires sales, like way less than 1%.

Sure, but the profit margins are probably much higher. There's no way it costs 5x as much to make a 911 tire as it does to make a Camry tire. I'd expect it to be similar to the situation where Porsche makes 40% of VW's profits on a tiny slice of the revenue.

Yeah, but being the OEM tire for the 911 is serious street cred!!! Plus these are like 8 year contracts. OEM tire for the whole 991 generation! That's big time.

You get all the other high end big brands after you too. It's all about positioning.

They play games with their website direction. I went to order another set of SC2's and it was a small adventure to find them. They used to come up as a standard choice for the 991, not anymore. They still have them but are not promoting them.

I was talking about the Porsche website. They were saying that Michelin was coming on as an OEM N0 tire for the 991.2

No problem. The thread title is about Tire Rack, I was just throwing a different comment in there.

Have you used the Sport Cups before? Using them for street, track, or both?

Yes, I use them primarily for the track with the exception of driving to and from the track. They are changed out before and after each event. My current SC2's have about 2,000 miles on them and 23 heat cycles. They are wearing evenly and expect they will need to be replaced after my next track event at Pocono Raceway this weekend. They may last longer, but who know's. My next event is 3 days at the Glen and can't risk the tires crapping out in the middle of the event. This is a testimony of not having a trailer that can haul extra wheels. Ah, the slippery slope always rears its ugly head.

How do you think they'd do on the street vs the PZERO's as far as wear longevity? You think they're quieter and smoother because they're softer?
