400 Mile Review of 991.2 C2S
I've had my '17 C2S for 5 days and I've driven 398 glorious miles and just wanted to post a quick review.
I've been very fortunate to have owned many P-cars (996, 997.1, 997.2, 991.1, 991.2) over the years, actually multiple examples of all series listed. I would count myself as an aggressive when able driver. I always buy the cars as daily drivers, for which all of them have been fantastic.
Of the 10+ 911s I have owned, my 991.1 GTS was my all-time favorite because of how it felt and how it made me feel while driving it. It is and was an amazing machine.
I too was a bit skeptical about the 991.2 because of the switch to turbos and smaller displacement. While I don't track the cars, although I have a few times, my biggest concern was the sound issue because I love the 911 "sound". It has always been a key connection point for me with Porsche.
I test drove 3 '17s before buying my car with different configurations (C4S, C2, C2S) and as I've always opted for the "S" models, the decision was more difficult this time because of the increased performance capabilities of the base Carrera. In the end, when I got into the car I ended up buying, it just felt so right.
I have to say that, for me, the PSE is a must have on the 991.2, preferably with the Sport Package. Without PSE, the car sounds fine but it is just too quiet for my taste, which I experienced in the C4S test drive.
To me, because this is a subjective review, the 991.2 feels substantially quicker than the GTS even though is down 10 HP. The torque delivery comes on instantly and from 1700 RPM on up it is an addictive rush that was always missing in 911s until you passed 4500 RPMs. The 991.2 C2S is a seriously fast car with acceleration that is more "Vette like" and it is exponentially more enjoyable to drive around town because of the easily accessible performance and instant grunt. Not even a comparison.
As far as sound, the 991.1 GTS was a screamer and it DOES sound better than the new car because it is louder and more consistent sounding than the .2. The 991.2 C2S Sounds great and if you had never driven a naturally aspirated 911 you would think it is a great exhaust note with PSE activated. For me, because I've owned so many 911s, the 3.0 liter turbo is a little quiet even with PSE and is much quieter than the GTS. Version .1 wins in this regard.
With the Sport package, the 991.2 C2S has handling that approached "GT" levels. It is more stable with rear wheel steering and it just feels better than any other Porsche I have previously owned.
The new PCM system is a HUGE step forward and the interface works incredibly well. So simple and SO fast. The screen changes and info appear in a blink. Such a huge improvement over prior generations.
In conclusion, this car, this 911 C2S, is the best all around sports car I have ever driven and i'm looking forward to many miles of smiles. It easily outperforms the GTS as a daily driver and it is a pretty nice start to summer.

Very nice review but, is the 991.1 GTS still your 'all time favorite'? it sounds like you like the 991.2 better.

I think that answers your question.

I have 4000 miles and 180 minutes of Track Time on my 2017 C4S.
I do not like exhaust noise and don't regret for a moment not ordering SE.
I have no use for something that offers no performance upgrade.
The car is clearly the best performing car I have ever driven (PDK for me) and the PTV+ feels like the 'Hand of God' reaches down and rotates your car through a hairpin turn!

Nice write up. That's a lot of miles in a few days! You're the man. My car is gonna be a garage queen till the weekends. Sadly, I have to take a train to go to work. I imagine I probably wouldn't have driven it to work in the suburbs either just because I might get a few looks from the more senior guys on my team 😁😁😁😁

Unless they can fire you.
Then, yeah: driving the 9 year old Explorer is probably the better choice...

Very nice review. Appreciate it, and my sentiments are very aligned w/ yours.
I dropped mine off at Zuffenhausen after a great 8 days / 2100 kms. Car was comfortable, peppy, nice balance of ride/handling - in short v. happy. I did up to a good rate of knots on A-bahn - very stable. Also had a challenge keeping revs < 4500, so I had my hand ready on the up-paddle in case of spikes when getting on throttle. So responsive I got caught out a few times going over suggested revs (5-6k).
I actually enjoyed the low-rev turbo whine. I also love PSE. More choice is better - can do quiet and louder. Underrated options (never had them before): seat cooling and LCAssist.
Can't wait to get it back.

OK this review happened awhile ago. Have had my C2s with all the handling goodies and PSE for around 6 months and agree with the initial review. My first Porsche so no comparisons, but the exhaust sings nicely when the revs are up. The way this car gets around corners still gives me a huge grin. So fun! Only downside is it has ruined my enjoyment of fast motorcycle riding through the twisties, so am trading my street bike for something more for exploring and gravel road stuff.

Sorry: didn't want to hijack OP'S post. I have been slack this time and not posted on Euro delivery. Ping me and maybe over T'giving I'll get my **** into gear and do a write up - but even the new museum was worth the trip this time.
