Default Auto stop start issues

Hi Guys,
I was driving my car about a week ago and this warning came up. It comes on every time I start the car. It doesn't seem to effect the cars operation. I am now out of warranty, but did notice my stop start function was NEVER engaging. I brought this to the attention of my service manager(when it was under warranty) and they said everything is fine. Although I don't think they even looked at it.
Any thoughts or has anyone else ever had this happen?

Did the write your complain about it? If they did, you might still have warranty on it.

I wrote them in an email. I never got any paperwork.

Sad but in a 991.2 that would probably be considered a feature

I actually like the "glide" portion of the feature but found the stop/start portion annoying. I mostly left it off but did put it on from time to time. In the last year I noticed it almost never engaged. That is when I called it to the attention of the SM.

We had this happen on our '15 Range Rover. Turns out the battery needed to be reset. The computer thought the battery wasn't holding enough charge to enable the ecostop feature. See if it's the battery charge.

I concur with Mark. It's probably a weak battery.

Thanks. The cars battery is original and over 4 years old. Maybe that is the case.

During my recent battery issue, the same message came up as well. It does seem to be relating to when the power goes down, it starts shutting all sort of electrical circuits down.

Is the 991 that tough on batteries?

I've seen more battery problems mentioned here that other forums like Audi and VW which normally creep into the conversation around the 6 year mark.

It does sound like a battery issue. Neighbor's 2013 991 had the same message and I believe it was cured after a battery swap.

If that's the case, you should definitely push on your SA to cover this. A letter to PCNA stating how you previously brought the issue to their attention but didn't get any love will probably help, too.

I think so... the dealership has started reporting that my 2012.5's is weak, it seems like the alternator rarely goes into low-voltage operation during acceleration or cruise anymore, and when I plug in the trickle charger, it seems to charge for a long time. I'll probably have to put a new battery in this year.

18650 miles in 4 years, you're not driving the car enough to recharge the battery, I hope you're using a trickle charger when it's parked.
