Default First Porsche wait must be the hardest!!

So I've received my VIN and told 1) V300 2) I should see my .2 by June 10th. It's an east coast (N VA) delivery. Is there a better way to track this other than asking my dealership for updates every 5 minutes? And does 10 June seem realistic at a V300 status?

Also, thanks in advance to all the tremendous posts regarding delivery checklists. I'm shooting for both an "enjoy the experience" and methodical walk thru from the moment it's delivered. Thanks again!

Briefs well... but you are probably right. Also good that I trust my SA and the dealership writ large. It's been a terrific experience thus far.

Have to say the wait is tough but worth it. Just took delivery of my new 911.2 C2s yesterday and it was without surprises. Lease process was as expected with no hidden fees or surprises. Our SA was very thorough in going over the car and explaining the systems. It was a bit exhausting as there is a lot of information overload. It was my first Porsche and so far I am very happy with the whole experience.

Find out what ship it is on and then track the ship's progress across the Atlantic. It is therapeutic. There are posts on RLs on how to do that. You can refresh the screen every 5 minutes......

Then watch the ship sit off the coast of Rhode Island for 2 days for some reason while you pace around in your living room pulling out your hair.

Yeah, tracking the ship is both good and bad. It was nice to know where my car was, but there was a lot of "WHY AREN'T YOU MOVING?!?!" yelling at the computer screen. :-)

Same here. My ship was bound for San Diego, but docked first off the west coast of Mexico briefly, then Long Beach, then sat out in the Pacific for 3-5 days before finally docking in San Diego! Then after that the trucking part was unknown. SA told me end of May. So he was right. I did visually catch my ship going through the Panama canal which was cool.

Sounds like no change to what I'm doing now. Except I'll have a ship to curse for not moving fast enough.

I've been reviewing the many threads on delivery checklists; intent is not to miss anything. Overall, I'm looking for the right balance as not to ruin what may be a once in a lifetime experience for me. Do you have any lessons learned from your experience?

I must say, I never fretted about the wait. Gave them my order and deposit and pretty much forgot about it. No checking wit the SA, no tracking of the ship. After 8 weeks, sent an email asking if the car was anywhere near the dealership. To my surprise, they told me car was on a truck to the dealership and we set a date to pick it up. I really did not get excited until I saw the car. Seems to me that all this anxiousness for weeks and weeks is a waste of energy.

I got much more involved in tracking the car because also for me probably once in a lifetime. Was it a waste of energy? Depends on the person. All the attention has zero effect on the arrival of the car! But was kind of fun for me.

For the actual delivery and financial part of the experience, the most useful part for me was doing my homework in advance. We decided to lease and I had never done a lease, so I spent a lot of time learning about that and the result was no surprises or stress. My SA spent a good hour going over the controls on the car and even then he did not cover everything. I did not go there with any written checklist. My purchase experience was much better than for any other vehicle I have ever owned, as it should be for the price of this car!
